Hey guys im debating with myself on which exhaust to get for my 03 H. o. I think the dual looks cool but what are the pros and cons of it. I do plan on having around 450-520 rwhp ive heard the 4" would be good enough for me. What do you guys think?

P. S. the dual kit has 2 4" pipes going out from the muffler and 4 " all the way threw from the turbo... . the single has 4" turbo back.

Thanks

Nick

It really comes down to personal preference. Either the dual or single will provide the exhaust flow you are looking for. Some guys just like the sound coming from both sides and they definately look COOL. On the Silverline systems we have the muffler is shorter on the dual system to leave space for the 4" Y going to each side so it may be slightly louder than a single, but split between the two sides.

No hard facts for you, but I just ordered from that place you posted about.

I went single, because I've heard some say that the 5" is too big, and I figured dual 4" would be close to the same results. Also, want to be able to fit a 35" spare in the future, and didn't want to risk parts getting too close to the suspension, and the factory is single 4" now, so there should be no fitment problems.

BTW: I called Piers to get a price and they wanted like 650 for the single, and stated that there was something fishy w/ the 425 price. They guys at that store assured me it was stainless and gave me a great deal on an AFE pro guard 7 drop in (45 bucks).

I should have it Wednesday (2nd day shipping) so I'll shoot up a post once it's installed.

Stick with a single system. If you HAVE to have a dual, make sure it splits as far back as possible. That "Y" in the exhaust hurts your exhaust gas velocity, just like an exhaust brake.

I think it was like 60 bucks for ground, you DO NOT want to know what I'm paying for 2nd day!!!!!!!!! It's insane, but I'm leaving for florida on friday and my straight pipe is annoying as hell.

I think duals are for V-8's and gassers---except for twin STACKS.

How's that going to work on my velocity Keith? 3" turbo to 4" downpipe to 5", then split the 5". Or would you keep it 4" until after the split? (12v stock head, stock cam, ATS in the plans. )

45 bucks for the AFE PROGUARD 7??!?!?! I think Genos is selling that drop in for around 80 bucks. Carefull, it might not be the Pro Guard 7... . ARE has 2 style filters.

I made sure I was getting the pro guard 7, and I even asked about a discount on shipping and he said he couldn't and I was getting a good deal on the filter. We'll see when it get's here, if it's not the proguard 7 I'll return it.

Gotta say go single

I would go single. I like functional, simple and looks in that order. Big single exhaust are the way to go on straight sixes and V-8 diesels. For the most part, we know the exhaust is dumping from a singel point (the turbo).

IMHO, 4" single exhaust is:

Funtional: flows good, sounds good

Simple: No weird turns, no tight fits, no uneccesary plumbing

Looks good: Our trucks rock with a 5" SS tip coming out the side

Stacks and duals look OK to me, but... back to the top of my post.

Well, I won't be able to let you know how it sounds as they just delivered a 98-02 exhaust.

So much for having something nice on my way to florida. As the new one can't get here till next week. Now I gotta try and get my stock muffler w/ bent up jagged ends back on before my trip.

They are now trying to dick around w/ my second day shipping costs that did me no good (waiting to talke to the "boss"). My AFE hasn't showed up either which was supposed to be here today also.

Needless to say I'm NOT IMPRESSED!! w/ dodge-pickups.com

Yes, sorry not to update, I'm on my way back from vacation in florida now.

THey sent me the correct kit with a call tag for the wrong one. Sent it ground and credited me the difference for teh 2nd day air. I ended up cancelling my AFE drop in since that wouldn't have been in before my trip.

Hopefully when I get home tomorrow the kit will be there or the next day.

Install is complete for my single system. Took 1hr 5 minutes :) Start to finish.

I really like it so far. Going from a 3k mile trip w/ a straight piped truck that droned like hell, this is nice and quiet, there is a lil bit of drone, but not bad.

Now I DID notice that the truck has more power, which suprised me.

Overall I'm VERY happy. Now just gotta check all the clamps and the turbo clamp again to make sure they are nice and tight.
