I was just curious how many people were running dual exhaust on their 1 st generation rig. I need a new one and am about to get it installed on Friday. I was thinking of getting a dual 3" set up. I don't want stacks but rather just a dual set up. Does this help much performance wise and what kind of noise does it make? It is also going to be a NO MUFFLER set up:D Thanks

Did you know a single 4 inch has almost as much flow area (12. 566 sq. in. vs 14. 136 for dual 3's) and should be a lot cheaper since several places make them?

Tuesday night I installed a 4 inch dump pipe(exits in front of rear wheel)no muffler and maybe I'm getting old but I think it's to loud to resinating. I think I'm going back to my Banks muffler and tailpipe. Maybe it's where it exits that makes it seem louder. Just my two cents.

4" exhaust

Hey John,

The exhaust on my '89 exits in front of the wheel. I found the angle of tip was critical. I cut the end off the downturn tip, shortening it about 2 to 2 1/2 inches. Then I played with it's angle in relation to the ground. I finally found a setting I could live with. You would be surprised at how much quieter it is now. The slapback from the pavement was really strong initially. I've attached three pictures that may help.
