Evan's '98 looked very nice cruising the highway with the dual 4" chrome tips out back. When pulling his truck into the dyno bay at BD last April, some of the Ford guys were admiring his duals. The exhaust tip on the driver's side is what caught the attention of the Cummins types

.
The duals sounded very nice, not as loud as a straightpiped stock system, but in stereo

. What surprised me when I drove his truck was how quiet his pipe-bombed system was inside the cab. I rapped it out a couple times and it wasn't much louder than stock (maybe I helped out in killing the injection pump

). I'm guessing it had to do with the angle of his exhaust tips. Straight-pipe stock system is VERY loud in comparison (but sounds great!).
I plan to put a single 5" system on my new truck, then eventually split it into dual 4" just in front of the rear axle and exit at the rear. I think I'll have to go with a smaller spare to find some room for the left pipe.
