Check this someone... . I was knocking off mud chunks from under my rocker panels last night, when I reached in and turned the key on to listen to the radio. I heard the lift pump whir as usual, almost. It was behind me.

I had my wife cycle the key while I climbed underneath and sure enough, my 04. 5 has the pump in the tank. I had already noticed the complete wiring harness when I added my transfer flow tank, but didn't realize it had the pump in there there.

So, I popped the hood and see that I still have the transfer pump on the filter.

Does anyone else have BOTH pumps?? Pump in the tank on an '04. 5?

Truck was an 8/04 Build.

Mine does the same thing, as soon as i turn the key to on i hear the pump and my fuel pressure gauge climbs to 7-8 psi.

But with the TST bos on anything over 4/4 on high rpm run it will still pull the pressure down to 1 psi

What is the 10th digit of the VIN?

#1 Statement on those Cheby boards, "Whats your VIN"??? I'll look later.

RDusch - I need to go look at a genuine '05, do they have both pumps too?

I'm curious to actually get the last eight digits of the VIN to check the sales codes on StarParts. Sometimes we see some weird codes for pre-spec models. The 04 catalog does not show an in-tank fuel pump for the Cummins trucks, just the 05 catalog. PM me if you want.

I have not seen any of the 05's on the lot that have the pump mounted to the fuel filter housing.

I work at a dealership in the parts department. Most of the parts can only be determined by sales code now, hence needing the VIN. Mirrors and wheels tend to be a royal PITA to look up these days. ANYONE may PM me for parts questions.

I just went out and looked at mine again, i tured on the key and i can hear a feul pump running but i can't tell if the sound is comming from the front or the rear.

Here's my last 8 digits 4G255248

Rick - Put your hand on the sender/pump cap on the tank and have someone turn on the key, you'll feel it. I just assumed mine was wired only but nope, it sounds like a gasser when you turn on the key, I just never thought about it. It hums under the hood like the '03, and goes wheee under the bed. Oo.

Rick - Yours should definately be mounted on the fuel filter canister only.

Its 5:15PM here, normally slow, but we are getting hammered, so sorry for the slow response.
