I own a bone stock '07 5. 9 with a 6 speed manual transmission. It's just over 3 years old and has 33,000 miles on it. Since new I've always felt that the clutch engaged too close to the top of the pedal travel. The dealer always told me that all was fine along with all of the usual dealer BS---- "they're all like that", etc. They also implied that I don't know how to use a manual transmission--- they are unimpressed with the fact that I've been driving stick for over 50 years---long before most (if not all) of them were born. At about 12,000 it began to slip intermittently. Since then the slippage has become progressively worse. The odd part is that, sometimes, when the clutch begins to slip, if I release the throttle, and then reapply it, the slippage stops. (This makes no sense to me. ) I should also point out that I rarely tow with this truck --and when I do the towed weight is less than 3000lbs 99% of the time. (I don't have to be towing for the clutch to slip. )

Anyone have experience with this problem or thoughts about the cause?

Thanks in Advance

Make them pull it and check the engagment surface area. There have been screw ups in the manufacturing that did not allow engagement of the full surface area needed. It will be pretty obvious on the disk if thats the problem.

you will only get about 30,000 to 60,000 out of a dmf. get a southbend kit. it has a solid flywheel, with a real pilot bearing a disc that does not slip, pressure plate and new hydraulics

There was a good article by Gary of Perfection Hy-Test in one of the back issues... He talks about replacing the stock DMF with a clutch using a solid flywheel, like what was done on a lot of the Fords... I've sold a few of his as well as another manufacturer... The one that Perfection offers is a pre-assembled package kit... very professional and very cost effective based on some of the other options available...

Only 30,000 to 60,000 mi out of a Dm???? Over104,000 still running strong, Ya have to know how to drive!!!! That said I have South Bend on Speed Dial... . Lol Sounds like you might have one that was involved in a recall something with the auto adjuster not working right... ...
