I 'm trying to get my front 'Dual Piston' Calipers off the rotors to change pads but can't figure out how they come off. I removed the two T-45 tork bolts but the caliper doesn't come off. I have a 2000 Haynes manual but it doesn't show the dual piston caliper.

Thanks in advance,

Bob

So after reading the thread that **Iceman** posted, just what size is the bolt heads and what size is correct. I'm getting close to needing pads myself. Chris

***ICEMAN*** I called my local 5 star Monday last week and they don't know what size the torx is for the "glide-pin" removal. They seem to think I'm a "crack head" because they have never seen a 2001. 5 but all previous years have been conventional in disassembly. I got a bit "torked" when the service tech suggested I bring the rig in so he could examine it. His manor was that I'm to stupid to make the statement that a #47 is too large and the #45 is too small.

My truck is in the driveway with the front end jacked up. The T45 is too small so what size is it? Surely someone has replaced the pads and cleaned the slide pins on a 2001.

Help!!

I was at Auto Zone today and I saw some METRIC torx. Could it be that they are metric? I didn't have my truck with me at the time or I would have bought them and tried it. Chris

Thanks for your replies, please keep us posted Motorhead. I went to the Stealership and asked the parts guy (most helpful I might add). He said there wasn't a special tool and went and asked their brakeman. T45 or allen key says he. I went to 2 other parts stores and there is nothing between a T45 and T50 according to them.

I put the brakes back together as they were until I can find the right tool to do the job.
