On page 364 of the owner's manual (for my 2007 4WD 3500 w/ DRW), it says,

"Dual rear wheel models require a special heavy-duty lug nut tightening adapter (included with the vehicle) to correctly tighten the lug nuts. "

I don't know what this special adapter looks like or where to find it. Is it located under the passenger seat with the rest of the tire changing tools?

Wow, I own 4 trucks with dual rear wheels... . don't have a clue what your speaking of, but on the other hand, we've never removed the jack or related tools under the seat... we've just never needed them...

All of our 3500 have been changed to 19. 5" wheels, and with most of them we have no spares with the truck...

I've been driving Dodge Ram duallies since June '01 and put lots of miles and several sets of tires on them. I never heard of a special adapter either. I rotated the wheels and tires for a year or two on my first one and always used an ordinary socket, extension, and torque wrench.

The "adapter" is probably for use with the factory lug wrench. I"ve never even pulled one out to look at it.

The special adapter is just an ~8" extension that fits into the lug wrench to reach the more inset nuts on the dually (one end is a 15/16" hex, the other end looks like the end of the lug wrench).

Mine is just collecting dust under the seat as I carry a 24" long, 1/2" drive breaker bar, a 12" long, 1/2" drive extension and a 15/16" socket. Hate to try removing the lug nuts torqued to 155 ft-lbs. with the factory lug wrench.

For longer trips I carry a 24" long, 1/2 drive torque wrench (250 ft-lbs max) as well.

Thats right. It works really really good too. Use mine all the time.
