Because of the difficulty of finding and only one tire size available for the dually, I have been checking into using a spacer between the dual wheels. There are several manufactures that make a series E in the 265 size. I've heard pro and con. How bout it? I pull a long, heavy gooseneck.

The wheels are 6" and stepping up in width may pose a problem in respect to the tire manufacturers recommended rim size. Usually a 265 suggests a 7" or wider rim.

The 19 1/2" scenario adds a lot of weight. I can tell mine would need stiffer shocks on front if I went to heavier combo.

I see alot of 3500 DRW out there towing, so somebody must be getting tires someplace.

If you are towing regular and racking up miles, you probably should check into getting tires early and put them in the barn. Some places apparently have them.

Let us know if you rig up spacers and use a 265. I'd sure like to have a better tire than what it came with.

Will be cking with several tire places that I trust about the rim sizes. As far as towing, it's what I do for a living. I hotshot with a long gooseneck. My truck was bought on Feb. 14 and now has almost 66,000 miles on it. I'll need tires pretty soon, think I can make 80,000 miles, probably should get at least a few ordered and in the barn for a backup.

Hell don't listen to all the nay-sayers... . I listened to the same crock of s. . t way to long. I had wanted to run bigger tires on my dually since I ordered it, but never found anyone who had done it. And every one I ask said the rims were to small, spacers were unsafe, they would lower the tow rating, ect, ect. ect... .....

I foundly got feed-up and went for it , I put on 255-85-16's and choise a 1 1/4" aluminum spacer, best move I ever made. As a matrter of fact, when these BRG MUD tires were out (I should be getting at least 50,000 miles, there is no noticabile were after 2 years), I'm going to go even bigger. I Have pulled to key west,FL. , New Mexico, Silver Lake, MI, and countless otyher small trips, not one problem, none. The spacers go on just fine, and stay tight. When I first got them I checked several times to make sure I wasn't going to have any problems, but they were alway just fine. I really like the bigger tires, they like better, and the add width looks cool, people notice something looks different, but can't seem to figure it out. The mud tires might not be your cup of tea, but I love'm, they are not loud, and the tires have a great load rating. Also, I tow a very heavey gooseneck enclosed car hauler, my tounge weight is almost 3000 lbs. and I haven't had a problem. The tires also run pretty cool. I have never like to follow suit, and it's not the first time I ended up being the genny pig, most of the times it works, sometimes it don't(like the stupid PRE-LUBBER), but when it does it's great. Most of what I call fun is trying new things.
