Has anyone ever gone from duals to singles? My wife is driving our 96 and feels nervous about the extra width (she was driving a honda CR-V).

I live in a highly ag populated area so there are 3/4 beds everywhere from those who went to flat beds. Other than taking off the bed and getting a set of 3/4 wheels, are there any other problems? (narrower axle, etc)

pretty sure i read that the rear axle needs switched.

wish you were closer !! :(

i'd like to turn my 94 into a dually.

we could swap it all,,bed, axle, wheels, etc

You need the rear axle. Is it a 4wd? If so, you might need to replace the front axle also (I am not sure if you only need to change the spindle).

Shouldn't have to swap the front, unless it has a different gears than the rear. The front has a spacer up front that can be taken off.

Iceman - what gears? It may give me an excuse to go visit the in-laws in Jersey with a stop off in MD;)

that would work !! could get a few local members and have a conversion day.

3:54's or 55's,,,,,,,,i'll have to check. definately not 4:10's.

you can convert your duallie in a single with replacing the front end or rear end. I did it to my 2000. the rear wheels maybe stick a half inch wider on each side than a stock single wheel. I actually like the look better. Is was not worth it to me to change around the rear end and possibly gears to gain a half inch for the wheels. I am also running the stock aluminum wheels.

I switched my dually to single and the only change I had to make was to take the spacer off the front axle. Everything else is fine.
