What do you think of Dodges choice of tires for our trucks. As far as I know the dualies are only avaialble with Goodyear GSA directional tires.

#1 I hate directional tires

#2 As far as I can tell there is only one tire available for our application and that is the GSA. If I'm mistaken please correct me.

Since Dodge needed more clearance for the larger brakes on the '03 why couldn't they have went with a 19. 5" rim so we could have a wide range of available tires? Having an odd ball tire size isn't a great idea when you blow a tire in BFE.

The GSA is not a directional tire but rather a asymetrical tire, meaning the tread pattern across the tire is different. They can still be cross rotated. If you read the sidewall it says THIS SIDE OUT.

Not only is Good Year the only people making the size tire needed for the dually, it's hard to find. I will need tires within the next couple of months. I'm putting it off as long as I can, hoping someone else will start making them. I have 63,000+ miles on them now hoping to make it to 80,000.

Neither Dodge nor Goodyear give a hoot what you think. They got out money. End of story. I sent a letter to DC COO Wolfgang Bernhard offering to crush the cojones of the person responsible for the wheel/tire mess. I can assure you that DC and Dodge could care less. DC is going belly up so I wouldn't worry just about tires. At least Cummins will be there and there are plenty of transmission folk out there.

You have 63,000 on your set? Mine are well past 1/2 gone and I only have 17,000. :(

I'm with you Matt, mine have about the same miles and are easily 1/2 gone. I will be replacing them before 25k. The 265/75-16's I ran on my Ford and Chevy went 50k a set and you could choose from lots of tires anywhere in the country.

I looked at 19. 5's but they are expensive and really heavy compared to the stockers.

I would also agree that DC could care less, they already got paid for the truck, now its your problem.

I would guess that we will see some other brands pony up pretty soon. BFG makes 17's for the SRW trucks but nothing for duallies. It is defiantely a raw deal:mad:

Keep them aired up to 80 lbs. , rotate them every 20,000 miles and if the DOT inspectors don't make me change them, I should safely get 80,000 miles. I see one of you are real high horse power, probably laying down a lot of black strips. Mine have never spun except when I get stuck.

Fronts are not much better than the rears. I have not rotated them yet because the dealer forgot to do it at my 15,000 mile service. Go figure!

I keep mine at 65 psi. And I think it rides rough enough. I can't imagine them at 80. Are you getting even wear across the tread with that high of pressure?

Black strips? Me? No officer wasn't me in this big ole diesel pickup. :-laf :-laf

My trucks are stock but pull big loads daily, 15K plus. The power of the HO certainly has something to do with it though;)

I run oilfield hotshot, drag a long trailer that weighs 7000 empty. My loads will go up to 24,000 gross on the trailer. I run a lot of miles, 63,000 in 6 months. Maybe keeping them aired up to 80 lbs. is what is doing it, don't know.

my dads truck has g?a. on the side wall , i dont remember the letter but its a more aggressive tread instead of the gsa which I have that is more of a "street" tire. i got a price last week from les shwab for the gsa. $1527. 00 for six tires!!!

I asked if included the condoms?

not walking funny yet , but its coming.

enough said 1500 for six , I thought 1000 was enough for mich ribs I've made my mind up about the 2003s and up . Not until the accessories become reasonable.

You sure you're not confusing the Goodyear Wrangler SR/A with the Wrangler GS/A?

The SR/A is the mild street tire (and was the original standard tire on 3500 DRWs), while the GS/A is the directional aggressive tread that looks a lot like the old Wrangler AT.

I'm at 10,000 miles and one of my outside rears is nearly to the wear bars:--) All the other tires have twice as much tread. Non of the tires have ever been out of sync with the others. In other words every time I have ever checked my pressures there were no tires abnormally low or high.

I run 75psi in my rears carrying a slide in camper and 55 in the rear without the camper.

Tires were rotated at 7,000.

Check with Wal-Mart. ;)

According to their tire book, they're charging about $187 each.

According to my calc'later, that's around $1200 "driveout"for a set of 6 mounted and balanced.

I've got 76,640 on mine now, run 55 front, 60 in rear, trl. weight will run from 13K to 24K. I think they will make 85 to 90K. I was getting Michelins from Sams for my 00, but they don't have them in the 17" yet, they better hurry!!!

I need shocks bad also, what are you guys doing for shocks? Everyone tells me they don't have them for the o3's yet.

  Jeez! Must be the interstate miles that these tires love. :(

Remember that scene from Days of thunder where he sets the 2 tires next to each other and he says (pointing to the blistered bald tire) his way (then pointing to the like new tire) and my way.

Yeah, I think I need to change my driving style! :-laf :-laf

I have the Rancho 9000Xs. They fit the '03 and they workd great.

While were on the tire subject, how in the world do you all check tire pressure and add air to the inner tires? I have real difficulty getting a gauge or inflator on the valve stems. :{
