Dually Dana 80 Brake Backing Plate Parts Question, Yes, I broke it

I somehow "spun the backing plate" on my left rear drum brake.

I run a Dana 80 Dually axle from a 94 Dodge 3500.

The brake cylinder is supposed to be at 12 o clock position. . Now its at the 5 o clock position.

The Part number of the backing plate is 4761545. . It is on a National Backorder through Chrysler.

Will any other brake backing plate from other Dually Dana 80 models work? (ford)

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone knows.

What does the steel brake line look like on the back of that backing plate? :--) Have you tried putting a request on the classified section in hopes someone with a wrecked rig can help you?

Are you sure that the truck wasn't driven with the e-brake on? Either that or your adjuster is working on h*llva lot better than mine. Maybe too good. :{

Good luck.

The line sheared right off and started leaking badly, thats what tipped me off.

The parking brake is not hooked up. . I didn't have time to do it after I swapped the Dana 80 axle in. I have the biggest brake cylinders I could find along with high performance carbon-kevlar shoes from EGR brake.

Thanks!

I think you need an exhaust brake. That, and stop trying to stop at a light from 60mph in 10'. :-laf

I'd try a boneyard, or a 4x4 shop that builds custom axles.

The only thing I can see that is a miss in your picture (besides the obivous) is the e brake equalizer bar is bent. Something developed enough energy to turn that b plate and shear everything off. Could someone have adjusted the star wheel out to TIGHT then left it there? Good luck, before replacing the b plate I'd try to find the cause of this, if I were you.

Dude! :--)

HTF?!? (the H is for 'How')

Oo.

Man, I want to see you pull!!

Anyway, contact your friendly local Dodge dealer and have them search other dealers' inventory because you need one RIGHT NOW so you can continue the 'Reign of Carnage' (RoC). That's how I got a trans years ago when there weren't any good rebuilders yet.

Not sure. . Just was sitting at a store, put it in park and the thing twisted right around.

Dodge does not have one anywhere in the country. . That is my dilemma. Supposedly in about 2 weeks I could have one.
