I will be installing 5" stacks on my Dually extended cab, outside the box, behind the cab. Is there anything that I should watch out for and how far from the paint should I mount them as to not burn the finish on the side of the truck. This will be a custom welded installation with 68" turn back stacks.

What would be confusing about dual stacks outside the box????

Somebody has to have some information... ... Help!

because, in all honesty, its really goofy looking. Due to the panels being curved up the side of the bed, the pipe is far away at the bottom and top, but close in the middle. There is one running around these parts, and quite frankly, it doesnt look good at all.

Personally, if you REALLY want to get unique, tunnel out a corner of the front of the bedsides, and run the stacks up that way, it would look sweet that way, as they would be inside the body lines, but "outside" the box. Would take some body work, but would be different.

OK. I thought that could be the case with the 2500. Also thought it would look a lot better on the dually with the protruding fenders. Bottom line, I don't want to give up bed space by having the blasted crossover running across my bed floor. That is a waste of a good truck if you do any hauling. Does anyone make a crossover that fits under the bed floor?
