Well when a po installed these new dually fenders on my crew, I guess he didn't wanna drill holes in them for marker lights. I feel the same way  :( . But since they are required, and more importantly look good and help remind you that you have a dually while going down skinny streets next to parked cars, I want to install them. I got what I needed from my shop. They are the 4" narrower markers model 19 with flat bases. I've installed these before but always on metal. They have one wire for power then get their ground from one of the two screws that hold the base down. So I guess not much of a ground on my fiberglass fender, I'd have to run a ground wire with ring terminal to the screw holding the base ?? I'm wonder how you guys would do it. I looked under DP's dually and looks like a metal bracket or something under it. Not there under mine. So I'll have to run some split wire loom or ?? Then find power and ground inside the frame rail? But should I use some sheetmetal screws with nuts to attach to the fender? I'm worried about cracking the fender when tightening them up or from drilling :( . Heres a pic of one of the lights and base, I think its the same as oem. Thanks.

That bracket you spotted on DP's dually is the hold down mounting points also. The lights are held on with 2ea #8 or so sheet metal screws that go into the bracket. A dually also runs a ground wire up to the light assy.

That bracket is also a wiring protecter. Where those lights are mounted standard loom probably last to long from road debris. You might want to run down to your local dealer and see if those brackets are still in stock.

Cept when I blew one of mine, DC wanted a pound of gold. I replace with LED's cheaper than DC wanted for the OEM incandescents. You're right, they gotta have a ground, plastic won't do.

Cheers,

Steve J

Alan thanks for the pics. Hey DP!!! You just swapped out beds eh??? I need PARTS!!!!!:D Wiring harness would be sweet too. Guess I've got some more rolling around under the bed to figure out how I'm gonna do this, that is unless I can find some parts.

Hey Bill,

THe fenders are sold, and the lights are going with it. However, if SamsRams ;) ever gets into the Springs, there is a place called Drivetrain Industries over off Garden of the Gods Road (just west of I25) that carries the plug ins, or they had them last time I was out there. You have to hunt for them, and the guy behind the counter sold Mom the set up Bill pictured. In other words,be persistent. I had to replace a holder last summer, but I used the OEM plug in. I'll look around and see what I can dig up. I have to go to the Freightliner dealer tomorrow for AFC parts, anyway.

ARGG!!! Well darn. The base and light in the pic I posted will work, but it won't be flat against the fender. Also I'll have to figure out how to protect the wiring. I bet if I dug deep under the bed I'd find the wiring harness. But looks like I'll be looking for the OEM mounting base which is rounded or curved the shape of the fender. I think the lights I have will plug into the oem base. So who's got busted up fenders with parts I need? Thanks.

The OEM base is a rubber gasket that is curved to match the fender and excepts the flat base that I posted about @ PMlights.com

Only one was busted (driver's side), it is still on the truck, I haven't swapped it yet. The photos are of the replacement. I was planning on repairing the fender and keeping it as a spare.

Can you tell me if those fender wiring protectors are to be on all the lights or just the front, yellow light? Mine only has them on the front light but maybe that is incorrect. Is it the same bracket on all the lights?

On the three fenders that I have, all have the protectors front & back. I'm not sure if they are the same part just flipped around or totally different items. I'll look tomorrow & get back with you.

I can get the wire protectors and base gasket from my local dealer. The base gasket I should have this week and the wire protectors I didn't order yet but when\if I do I can pass the part #s on if you would like. I know this stuff cost an arm and a leg through the dealer but I haven't had much luck finding it elsewhere. Let me know if you need or want these part #s

esamuelson, absolutely, yes I'd like the part numbers. I'd rather pay for the original than 'make' the light and base work that I have.

Sorry it took me so long to get part numbers for you but I had trouble getting the correct parts. The plastic base is mopar part #56003336

The truck lite number for the same base is MDL 19. The metal wire protector part number from mopar is 56003707. I have the part number for the rubber base gasket that goes between the plastic light mount and the fender is a mopar part number 56003706. This piece is not available any more :{ I don't know where else to try but am looking for any suggestions or anybody that has some used ones for sale, I only need one!

esamuelson, you are the man!! Thanks. When you said, 'plastic base is mopar part#56003336 and MDL 19 are we talking about a 'marker light'? Or is there a 'base' that the marker light snaps into?

I don't know where else to try but am looking for any suggestions or anybody that has some used ones for sale, I only need one!
Hey me too! I need it all though LOL.

Yes their is a plastic base that the light snaps into, this base is on top of the rubber gasket that goes against the fender. If you look up truck-lite on the web you can look up all the lights and bases. The light is a series 19, and you can get them in led or the factory style light.

Ok thanks thats what I thought. I have a bunch of those model 19 lights from Truck Lite and bases for them, so if they are the same as OEM, I'll have that part already. Now just need the NLA curved rubber gasket and wiring protectors, which a dodge online site quoted about $12 each:eek:. C'mon internet, someone reading this has got to have a busted up dually bed with parts for me ?? email -- email address removed -- for the non-members.
