As time passes, my dually fenders look worse and worse. It "looks" like the clear coat is coming off in small blotches about half the size of a pencil top eraser. Not sure if it is the clear coat at all, but I can't imagine what else it could be. Vehicle gets washed, polished and waxed regularly. I believe these fenders are made of plastic??? Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how were you able to remedy it? Have tried consumer grade Meguiar's products with no luck. All experience appreciated.

Thanks,

David

I got the same thing on the tops of fenders. I am really not to concerned though, the faster that bed falls apart, the sooner I get to put a flatbed on. Oo.

I had trouble with fuel and exhaust stains on my 00. Dlr. repainted the fenders under warranty. They repainted them with the same paint the rest of the trk. was painted with. Was told the fenders were painted with a different paint. A good friend has the trk. now, and it looks good w/245K mi. on her, and sets outside all the time.

The fenders, huh? How bout the fenders, the top , and the hood. My paint job has never, since new, been right. I always got the brush off from the dealer. The problem was never there fault. I have a buddy that is going to paint it for $2000. And I take all the pieces off. Sand down the the metal and start over. He does these trick paint and flame jobs.

Color?

This truck is a Forrest Green Metalic. I wonder if the darker colors are giving the most problems? Finding a product to remedy this is really frustrating. I hate for the dually fenders' paint/clear coat to deteriorate while the rest of the truck holds it own. Wish I could find a remedy... ...

The biggest problem is that the factory does not enough clear coat over the base coat. The clear coat needs to be at least 5 mills thick. The factory puts closer to 2. 5-3 mils and that is the reason the clear coat fails. You can paint the plastic fenders just like any metal part on the truck. Let me know if you need any advice because I own a collision repair shop and I do paint work all the time.

Zues,

Thanks for the info. I was afraid of that. They are not completely falling apart yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. I'll certainly take you up on your offer for assistance when the time come to paint. Maybe a nice candy apple red for the fenders to go with my green truck:D LOL
