You'er right, un fact I installed factory rubber flaps on my wife's 19 Ram. We have to install front and rear on everything living down a quarter mile gravel road.

My 2017 Ram 5500 CM bed came with plastic ones and after a week, the one by the exhaust melted. The dealer had a stack of various ones and let me take my pick. All were plastic, so I picked some big ones, and installed them closer to the wheels and away from the exhaust. No problems. Front ones are rubber.

Good catch.

Cheers, Ron
Just saying Duraflaps are excellent mudflats...guess I should have worded it differently and you wouldn’t have gotten your panties all in a bunch.

Ok guys your getting ADD on me. I just did the install and posting some pics. SBettecourt thanks for the harbor freight referral it worked well. Rob S. I fanangled it so I didn't take off tires. I slid I think piece of wood so I could slide the tool. Also used a right angle adapter from DeWalt . Took me a half hour a side. I took pics but resolution too high to post so I'm going to just go have a beer.

FYI with me always running ALT Ride Mode my DuraFlaps were too low. I removed two inches from the top edges and re installed two inches higher, much better now with no curb issues.

Throw those factory flaps away and get ya some Duroflaps!

I had those on my 05 and the HD Mopar flaps on my 18. The Mopar flaps are significantly better, so no more duraflaps for me.

The duraflaps are too rigid for any back road use, and didn’t do any better job keeping debris from hitting the truck.

Which ones will survive an automated brush-type Car Wash the best? I've got one of the best right around the corner where I can run it through for around $5 or up to $30. I won't even turn the hose on for $5. And yeah, It's a good car wash. I've seen high-end cars and convertibles of all types go through it. But the tire and wheel brush is kind of aggressive.

I was at the dealer yesterday and they said they no longer sell (or recommend ) the hard plastic type splash guards for the rears on 2500/3500 models. I was looking at Genos Husky liners at the time, but will buy the RAM rubber ones instead based on this and the possibility of the paint being damaged by the Husky liners as many have said. I had MOPAR rubber flaps on my 04 for 17 years / no problems and they are still there even with taking the fronts on/off many times to remove the inner fenders for my many repairs / mods.

Side note....., I went through a car wash last week (rode in truck) and the big @$$ fan that dries the truck at the end was causing the hood to deflect inward significantly over the center area.... Is it OK? it was fluttering in the center like a towel waiving on a clothes line on a windy day! I sure don't want dents, creases, or worst paint failure? What are these hoods made of?

I wonder if that's because they had the ones without weights on them?
