Bob welcome to the TDR. You can buy a truck type air chuck and gauge at any auto parts, also most truck stops have the setup you need for airing your tires. The valve extensions that Robby speaks of will throw your tires out of balance and many folks have had the extra leverage actually break off the valve stem from the rim. You are better off not to use them.

Bob, get the stainless steel valve stem extenders and set them 180 degrees apart and you have no balance problem. They mount to your hubcap so there no pressure on the stem at all. Been running them for years on all my duallys and wouldn't be without them. Pete

I use a dual/head truck type gauge from NAPA that is stright for checking the inside tire. After replacing the valve caps with ss caps thet have check valve in the top so there is no need to remove valve caps to inflate tires(also NAPA).

Found something interesting on my 94 dually.
My inside duals were wearing faster then the outside due to so many miles on two lane crowned roads. Talked to a hot-shot owner operator, and he suggested running 5 lbs less pressure on the inside than the outside. Tried it and got about 25% more out of the next set of tires. Give it a test try, It might work for you.

I had all of my valve stems replaced with steel ones versus the stock rubber. The rubber ones are only rated for 60psi even though Ford and Dodge put them on tires rated for 80psi. I run the stainless extenders and use an equalizing guage/manifold sold at Camping World to fill the tires. You can open up the guage to make the pressure in both tires the same. They can be aired up at the same time as well. They are not tied together after using the guage. It just makes it real easy to run the same pressure in all 4 tires... CJ

PSD Picks

Just picked up new 3500 and found that the rear tire air valves are on the inside between the tires. Any suggestions on aftermarket kit for making this task easier? I pull a fifth wheel and like to raise and lower tire pressure based on load I am pulling.

Bob, I purchased 2-kits for my dually at Pep Boys for $12. 95 each. It's easier to install them with the tires off so I waited until I rotated them.
