dually tire preasure

Looking for a little help here , got a brother in law whom just traded his 99 ford in on a 04 1/2 cummins 1 ton dually ( nice truck ) anyway he was showing it to me and i noticed the rear dually tires were contacting the road only near the center of the tread , way to much pressure , what kind of pressure should be in those tires when the truck has no load , my cummins is a 3/4 ton and I have no idea what he should use for pressure , any suggestions ?

The factory recommends 60 psi for all 4 rear tires on a dually. That's what I use and tire wear is even.

ive been running 55 psi and seems to be wearing even with 6800 miles on them

I change air pressure depending on the load on the truck. 65 PSI on the fronts and 45 PSI on the rear when the truck is empty. Loaded with the Lance slide-in camper, 75 PSI on the front and 80 on the rear.



With the Rancho 9000s on "5" on the front and "2" on the rear and 45 PSI in the rear duals, the truck rides very well running empty. Hauling the Lance with 80 PSI in the rear tires and the Ranchos on "9", I get a good firm ride and no problems with cross winds and/or passing trucks.



I rotate the tires myself as outlined in the Owner's Manual at every other 5,000 mile oil change. It takes me about an hour and evens out the tire wear.
