Why bigger?
They do look a little better but most people won't notice unless you go with spacers and really big tires.
There are several trade offs with bigger, you mentioned a few.
Also consider that with 235s you won't be able to lower your rear tire pressure for a better ride (unloaded) and better wear (load dependant). You need the high pressure to keep the side walls from rubbing. With the stock size, you can drop to 45 psi unloaded to maintain ride quality. Slight rubbing is UNACCEPTABLE. It might only remove a small amount of sidewall rubber but applies forces to the tires inproperly.
When my 235s wear out, I will happily return to the stock size. Bigger might not always be better.
