What is the biggest you can run with minimal mods. I here in the rear you need spacers on the rear if you go to big. Do these spacers affect load carrying capablities? I would like to stay away from them if possible. I am trying to get rid of my 2500 and looking into a dually, I am ignorant to them at this point. I'm thinking maybe a 285/70/17 Toyo A/T or maybe the 295 M/T(both E rated), any thoughts or experiences with this??? ThAnKs...

I have 265 70 17 and have about 1/2 inbetween duals. I think any wider will require spacers. My neighbor has 315's and in running 2" spacers in the rear and 2" springs spacers in the front.

Yes, I have one in the spare tire hanger. The 265 70 17 is the same height as the oem 235 80 17. I have been looking for 265 75 17 to get a little more height.

I run 285/70/17,They look good, the tire dealer put a solid spacer about 1/4 inch thick so was still able to catch all threads. (Not the "real" spacers you buy and have to get longer studs. ) They look to close to me but he assured me they were OK. No problems pulling gooseneck horse trailer. They look like they are only about 1/2 inch apart to me. Looks to close but works OK and looks 10 times better than the silly looking factory tires. Even an older friend of mine that knows nothing about vehicles or trucks said "Your tires look too little for your truck". I would love to have some 19. 5's but the wheels are ridiculously priced, all I have been able to find are those fancy chrome ones (which look fantastic) but are $3000!! Wish I could find a deal on some, or find some steel ones with hubcaps.

How much taller are those 285's then the factory 235's ? Also what brand tire did you go with. I see pretty big variable's between brands.

Mine are about 1 inch taller after mounted. However, they look WAY bigger. They are Firestone A/T Destination. They are D rated not E, but max capacity is higher than original E's and ride WAY better. Max load 3195 single and 2910 dual. Of course D vs. E. is controversial but max load is max load and I like the ride way better. D E etc. rating is antiquated and industry is getting away from it eventually. I think the E has extra side wall and you could argue that is stronger, It seems it would be, but that is also what makes it ride worse than D. and again Max load is max load. I am by no means an expert this is just what works for me. Maybe someone will chime in that is a tire dealer. I don't have many miles on them so can't vouch for wear factor. Works good for me so far pulling my g. neck h. trailer.
