I have a little over 20,000 on my truck, the boss lady had a nail in her tire so I took it down to the local Les Scwab tire store to get it fixed. While there I asked about tires for my dually they said that the only thing available was the stock Goodyear's. Other wise spacers and such would be needed. They also said each tire was running $190. 00!!!!
That is a lot of money in my book for tires that don't last all that long. Let alone I am not a good year tire fan. How would a 3. 73 geared rear-end do with a set of Rickson 19. 5's? I do run empty 90% of the time. Since I plan on keeping this truck for a few hundred thousand miles would this plan not be cheaper?
The Rickson wheels are a direct bolt on. Unlike the Alcoa wheels that need an adapter or something. When it is time to buy another truck 10 years from now Dodge could have dumped the Cummins or changed the rear axle, so the Rickson set up would not fit on said new truck. With the Alcoa set up needing the adapter thing I would have at least the potential of using the Alcoa wheels on the new truck.
If I am wrong please let me know, I am sure by next fall I will be in the market for new tires.
