I plan to swap out my original factory rear bumper in the coming months, probably at the same time as my UTE front bumper makes it over to Europe from Australia. Oo.

I really like the spec and looks of the Dually wraparound rear bumper from Ranchhand but was wondering if the profile of the bumper extended much beyond the OEM factory rear bumper?

I currently use a Lance 1130 slide-in truck camper on my 2nd gen 4x4 1-ton and need to be sure that this type of replacement bumper is compatible and has enough clearance for the rear camper overhang. I could be worried about nothing, but there again... ... .

Similarly, I have a Reese Class V hitch installed in place of the original factory Class IV set-up. I'd like to maintain the use of my current Class V set-up rather than use an (inferior) receiver tube bolted on to the rear bumper assembly itself. So the question is, does the Ranchhand Dually wraparound rear bumper allow the continued use of the existing receiver hitch?

The pictures on the Ranchhand website stop short of this and whilst waiting for their response by email, I thought it would be worthwhile to check this information with the TDR membership also..... All comments welcomed.

Cheers!!

just another thought... BTDT type of deal

If you had a minor fender bender that wrap around bumper WILL take out some / all of the fender and maybe some of the bed. . when they twist they get other pieces. . again BTDT with another truck a few years ago. . ok ok more that a few LOL it was a 1974 3/4 ton 4x4 Chevy.

BTDT.....

Good point! My reasoning was based purely upon ready access to bodywork parts in case of a fender bender would be somewhat time consuming and anything I could do to mitigate that would be in my favor, surely?

Bumper dings can be knocked out a damn sight easier than rebricating bodywork and it keeps the idiots at an extended distance when they're (trying to) park nearby.

Edit update: just got an email back from Ranchhand. Seems that their dually rear wraparound bumper is not compatible with either the factory class IV or class V replacement receiver hitch. I don't want to lose the investment of my class V receiver hitch, so the question now is, does anyone know of any good looking and sturdy aftermarket rear bumper, which will allow me to retain the use of my existing class V receiver hitch?

John, try toughcountry bumpers. I have their Deluxe Front Replacement Bumper and Dually Running Boards and talked to the owner about the same thing. I want to use my factory receiver with the rear dually bumper. They make an 8"-10"-12" drop with receiver. He said to get the 8" drop and I can still use the factory receiver. I tried putting the link in for you but it won't open. Just type in toughcountry bumpers and it should open the site. . good luck

I've got a wraparound bumper, but I had the receiver built in to the bumper. It's got a higher rating than the factory reciever hitch and looks good too.

I had a Tahoe hit me on the left rear of my truck, luckily he tried to tangle with the bumper and lost BIG TIME!! I didn't get a scratch and she had to buy all nw front end stuff.

The only one I could find was southwest fabricators but it looks like their bumpers are all drops.

I think I have seen the other two with links in other posts, but I could not find their websites on yahoo.

Hell, Brown's doesn't even have an e-mail address.

That the brand of bumpers I have. After I got the front bumper, I decided I would not buy from them again. The quality just isn't up to the standards the other manufacturers are. Mine has the little BB left from when they welded it and the paint was paper thin. I'm not pleased at all. When I called them about it, they didn't seem to care. They just said they were understaffed. That's no excuse to me.

Thanks again!!
