Any one else out there duck hunters? How has this year been for you? We have gone from water to ice and back to water and now it's ice again. The hunting has been the same some weekends there are thousands of bird and the next hardly any. Haven't seen any big flocks of geese down here yet.

I go either duck or goose hunting every weekend with my dad. This year has been real good for duck hunting... . alot of wood ducks around this part. I go goose hunting and east texas... some days you will see 3,000, the next day you'll see 30. I just got back today from a 4 day goose hunt. Saw alot of geese, but I only ended up with 2 lower canadas. Either I don't put out a good spread, or my calling isn't that well because I can never suck them into my spread. In all, this has been an alright year for waterfowl.

I guess you could say about the same here in southeast Texas. It was dry at the start of the season so we used that as an excuse, then it started raining and it has just not been a good year. I don't duck hunt any more but my son stays in a blind when he is not working. I think the mild weather early caused a late migration and then when the winter did set in the birds all by-passed us. Oh well, we still got mosquetoes and alligators. bg

I have come to the conclusion that at 3:30am, given the choice between staying under the sheets with the ol' lady, or standing knee-deep in a 30*marsh with a -15 windchill, I'll just hunt dry-land animals, or stay with her. Duckhunting just appears a little dysfunctional to me, considering the alternatives, ya know.
