I posted this in the IRV forum, but thought it would be good to post it here also.

This really **** *s me off.

Was coming home down hwy 95 from Laughlin, Nv. (one lane each way) when I had an oncoming passer coming at me in my lane. I knew it was going to be waaay too close, so I was flashing my high beams, and starting to edge towards the side of the road and letting off the gas. Was a tuffy because there were RV's behind me, and sloped rocky shoulder.

Anyways this "person" was literally about one second from taking us all out. He just barely made it back in his lane after cutting off a motorhome.

It was very poor judgement. I couldnt help but think of all the years we've been alive, to have everything come down to one split second, and it was determined by another "persons" wrecklessness.

Weve seen this be so close too many times. What the heck is wrong with these dummies nowadays?? Were people always this stupid?

Thanks for the vent.

I had a cop in marked police car, pass a vehicle on a two lane road, double yellow lines, no lights or siren, while I was coming the other way in my F700 aerial lift, 27500 GVW. I did not hit the brakes, just let up on the throttle and he made it with about 50 yards to spare. I was real tempted to just maintain my speed and it would have been a head on at 45 mph or a extremely close miss. Being that my truck probably outweighed the police car at least 5 times and my feet was about the level of his head, the city would have had a dead cop and I would have had a new truck, courtesy of the City & County of Honolulu. Don't know what these idiots are thinking when they pass like that. But when amongst idiots on the road that are driving cars I feel pretty safe in my Dodge, and feel almost invincible in my med. duty trucks.

YEAH, THERE ARE DUMMIES IN PA ALSO. I WAS COMING HOME FROM MY LITTLE SISTER'S COLLEGE TODAY. YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE LEHIGH TUNNEL (2 LANES EACH DIRECTION) IT CLEARLY STATES TO HAVE LIGHTS ON AND NO PASSING IN THE TUNNEL. THIS MORON IS GOING FROM THE SLOW LANE OUT INTO THE HAMMER LANE PASSING CARS AND EVEN BIG TRUCKS; THEN PASSING IN THE SLOW LANE. THERE'S NEVER A COP AROUND WHEN THESE IDIOTS ACT UP!

In 1997, when I was motorcycle roadracing, I was on my way back home from Talledega Grand Prix track. I was only about 10 miles north of the track on a 2 lane road. I had my dad and brother in the truck with me. I can see about a mile ahead through a left hand turn (for me). I see a car passing coming around that turn. That car was passing in the outside lane on double yellow lines.

The car was some kind of heap, like an old ford escort with no passing power and this black girl (no racism there, just noting that I was able to get a look at the driver) was passing about 5 cars at once. I was pulling a 16' enclosed trailer with a couple bikes in it with a 3/4 ton 4X4 Chevy Suburban. I did everything, flashed lights, honked, yet that b1tch forced me off the road on the right. She sqeezed the car she was passing as much as she could, but there still wasn't room to run 3 wide. I'm a good driver, and very conscious about everybody on the road (riding bikes makes you more conscious about what everybody is doing or may do), so I waited to go off road until I had no choice. By that time I had brought my speed down from 60 to maybe 35 mph or so.

I was enraged! #ad
But there wasn't anything I could do while pulling that trailer, takes to long to turn around, and I doubt I could've ran as fast as that Escort pulling my trailer.

Had to stop and make sure the bikes were still upright (which they were) cause getting the right side tires off in the ditch was a rough ride. I'm still looking for her #ad
, but I doubt I'll see her up here in MI. Besides, the way she drives, she's probably dead by now. The sad thing is, people like her get other people hurt and killed. By gones.....

I have had them pass me on a curve and I know they were just betting no one was comming but if there was I would have been sucked into it as well as the headon. Many,Many will see an RV comming and pull out in front of it if it KILLS THEM.

Have breaked many times to allow some dummy,(at least for the moment) room to pass.
Good reason to not tow too fast. (how fast is too fast?) when you can not avoid an accident.

I have some friends who are police, and I always ask them how they can take seeing the crap driving without shooting some one. People around in MD are about worthless, a "Truck" here is anything bigger then a Honda Cr-v; what a joke. Try driving a loaded truck sometime then see how you like getting cut off, I love watching semi's who don't hit the brake when cut off #ad
that it awesome!

Saw a couple in a few days - going up I-70, one of the big buses that makes the round trips to the ski areas. Had his signal on, and instead of making room, the idiots started shooting out from behind him and hanging out beside him rather than passing.

He caught the person he was catching up to, and just made a lane as he pulled over. An Expedition and a min-van, both loaded with skis, had to find some other place to drive. At first I thought wow, he didn't see those guys. Nope. He was a pro. Someone who didn't see them would have swerved around in surprise after he realized what he had done. My wife was wondering why I started laughing so hard - she was horror struck at first.

Saw another guy, dodge truck pulling a bobcat on a flatbed. Hit is signal, to go left, someone jump out and cut him off, then stayed there. He just pulled it on over and ran that dude right up the curb into the raised median. Not unsafe, not high speed, just real slowly pushed the guy off the road, and I watched him in his mirror, the whole time he was watching the guy give a little so he took a little more. Man that guy was mad, and the dodge driver was smiling, and decided not to take it anymore.

Around here, up and down I-25 and I-70 west, is a "me first attitude". Every single day I see folks merge on to the interstate and go straight to the left lane. And then, sometimes even the same person, they go from the left lane, across to some off-ramp. I just sit over and hide on the right with the school buses and trucks, do 3-5mph under the limit, and watch.

Hey nordby, that's nuts, I was out on vacation at barbie kingdom (vail) this summer, actually we stayed in avon, anyway those roads out there are good material for unlimited underwear commercials #ad
Really though, I came home to the "flatlands" here in MD and just thank god our drivers don't have to contend with... ..... hills? You know those tiny ones you guys have out there #ad
Beautiful state, hope to get back over there again!

Driving in pretty heavy rain this afternoon. Traffic heavy, no where to go but run with the flow. Don't you know this dirtbag jumps in front of me. Of course, a mile down the road he jumps off.

I also like the ones who try to get a jump on the passing zones by coming out on the yellow lines. Waiting your turn means nothing.

Had this idiot behind me the other night. Traffic running about 60, no passing zones and this jerk is on my tail. Jumping around, headlights in my eyes, etc. This goes on about 20 miles. Finally get to a passing zone and I launched it. Now there is no one, just him and me. Everytime he tried, I would goose it, then back off, then goose it. Heh, heh, want to play, buy a real car.

Okay, that's my rant. Next!

There are a lot of dim wits on the road that don't get the idea that if you go to pass a truck you should excellerate enuff to be past them when the passing lane ends. I've seen a lot of loggers just "merge" back in at the end of the passing lane and let the dim wits find a place to duck. Nothing like a redwood log in front of your windshield to attract your attention.

Oh yea, they'll leapfrog past ya on the right in traffic all day long here in cali. No consideration. They'll cut off trucks with small cars. Its no wonder we have a road rage problem.
