First post here, Ive been out of the diesel owners loop for a couple years and am new to the DC and a new member of TDR. (had a GM diesel, got the one I really wanted this time). So Im going to try to get most of my really dumb questions out of the way right now.

-First of all what does ISB stand for? (inline six banger perhaps? :D )

-What is a vp 44?

-What is the best source for a FASS or similar pump?

-Last but not least, someone please tell me that the "RIP HVAC" I read in someones sig was not intendeed in the most literal sense. . :(

Please pardon the dumb questions.

Thx, Byren

Really, there are no dumb questions.

ISB: Interact System B: Cummins designation for the 24 Valve "B" series diesel introduced to the 1998 Ram

VP44 is the Bosch fuel injection pump used from 1998 through 2002

FASS has a number of good dealers. I got my pump from Rip Rook at <www.sourceautomotive. biz> Another trusted source is <www.powerbypoole.com>

HVAC is the "handle" used by Nowell Thomas, a well respected diesel head who helped pioneer many of our BOMBS. He died rather unexpectedly a few years ago.

Fill out your signature with your truck info & it will help when asking the inevitable questions you will have.

Welcome to the TDR. Enjoy the ride.

Thanks Richard.

I was a member of the dieselpage when HVAC broke the 600 hp barrier, I remember it well. What a loss. . As I said before though, been out of the loop a couple years.

My deepest apologies and regrets to his many friends here.

Ill get the sig together, been too busy browsing and gleening info. ;)

It will read something like '99 24v QC etc. etc.

Welcome aboard, people on this site are like professors and guys like me are the students. I've learnt a lot just by reading and researching the site, but on occasion I've had to post my newbie question.

Thanks for the replies and the welcome guys. Im begining to get a good feel for my new truck and its inner workings now, did some diesel mechanicing for a couple years so Im not totally in the dark, just new to the ISB.

The engine oil cooler is part of the casting that the oil filter is screwed to.
