Dumb question about alarm systems and RAMS 2013 and up?

Does Chrysler have a alarm system option for these trucks>? Have a similar dilemma once again.( My last 2013 I caught 3 little hoods eyeballing it at the park and ride. Installed a VIPER, but did not care for the install.)

I was up at 5am today and over heard a diesel (most likely a 5.9 cummins) going down the street and stop IFO my home, idling, then it backs up, and then takes off forward. I live on a semi "court" type street and unless you were or had to be on my street, you cant get lost and find your way here.

I need something that will alert me to motion/glass breakage, etc. I would rather buy a "plug and Play" if there is such a animal. Don't want to buy Lo-jack right now either. I don't know how easy it is to actually "steal the whole truck" etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

The answer is yes, there are a variety of alarm options available. I don't know if they are available to be installed by a dealer or not. Mine came with the alarm system and I have set it off a few times accidentally. Below is a description from my service CD. Not a lot of data there but it does describe the system.

VEHICLE THEFT ALARM

The Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) is designed to provide either active or passive perimeter protection of the vehicle by monitoring the vehicle doors and the status of the ignition switch (also known as the Keyless Ignition Node/KIN or IGnition Node Module/IGNM). If the VTA system detects any attempt to compromise a monitored vehicle system or feature, the vehicle horn is pulsed as an audible deterrent and certain exterior lamps are flashed as a visual deterrent.

The Body Control Module (BCM) (also known as the Common Body Controller/CBC) includes the logic and control circuits for the VTA. Each of the ajar switches provides hard wired inputs to the BCM, while the BCM provides control outputs to the vehicle horn and lighting systems. The Radio Frequency Hub Module (RFHM) (also known as the RF Hub) monitors the status of the ignition switch through a private serial bus and relays this information to the BCM in the form of electronic messages transmitted over the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus.

The hard wired circuits between components related to the VTA system may be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and procedures. Refer to the appropriate wiring information. The wiring information includes wiring diagrams, proper wire and connector repair procedures, details of wire harness routing and retention, connector pin out information and location views for the various wire harness connectors, splices and grounds.

However, conventional diagnostic methods will not prove conclusive in the diagnosis of the VTA system or the electronic controls and communication between modules and devices that provide some features of the VTA system. The most reliable, efficient and accurate means to diagnose the VTA system or the electronic controls and communication related to VTA system operation requires the use of a diagnostic scan tool. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information.

VEHICLE SECURITY ALARM The Vehicle Security Alarm monitors the vehicle doors and ignition for unauthorized operation. When the Vehicle Security Alarm is activated, interior switches for door locks are disabled. The system provides both audible and visible signals, for the first three minutes the hornwillsoundandtheheadlightswillturnon,thepark lampsand/orturnsignalswillflashandVehicleSecurity Light will flash repeatedly. For an additional 15 minutes only, the headlights will turn on, the park lamps and/or turn signals and Vehicle Security Light will flash.

Rearming Of The System The Vehicle Security Alarm will rearm itself after the 15 additional minutes of headlights and Vehicle Security Light flashing, if the system has not been disabled. If the condition which initiated the alarm is still present, the system will ignore that condition and monitor the remaining doors and ignition.
To Arm The System The Vehicle Security Alarm will set when you use the powerdoorlocks,orusetheRemoteKeylessEntry(RKE) transmitter to lock the doors. After all the doors are locked and closed, the Vehicle Security Light in the instrument panel cluster will flash rapidly for about 16 seconds to indicate that the alarm is being set. After the alarm is set, the Vehicle Security Light will flash at a slower rate to indicate that the system is armed.
To Disarm The System Use the RKE transmitter to unlock the door. If something hastriggeredtheVehicleSecurityAlarminyourabsence, the horn will sound three times when you unlock the doorsandtheexteriorlightswillblinkthreetimes.Check the vehicle for tampering.

The Vehicle Security Alarm will also disarm if a programmed Sentry Key® is inserted into the ignition switch. To exit the alarming mode, press the RKE transmitter UNLOCK button, or insert a programmed Sentry Key® into the ignition switch. The Vehicle Security Alarm is designed to protect your vehicle; however, you can create conditions where the system will give you a false alarm. If one of the previously described arming sequences has occurred, the Vehicle Security Alarm will arm regardless of whether you are in the vehicle or not. If you remain in the vehicle and open a door, the alarm will sound. If this occurs, disarm the Vehicle Security Alarm.
