I would love to make my 04. 5 cummins rumble from the tail pipe. With 6 speed manual, I love the sound of a loud truck when shifting. I am no exhaust expert by ANY MEANS... . do people still use glass packs?? I want to maintain my warranty for sure and I don't have guages. What would be the best? Thanks in advance! Oo.

not sure how glass packs would sound on a diesel... probly not good

if you want to use gasser exhaust Maybe you should try FLOWMASTERS

That would sound cool ... i think????... . but It's would still be restrictive IMO

strait pipe it and just use the natural CTD sound i like it the best

THanks! Can you streight pipe it with no warranty issues??? I bet the Cat would need to come off yes?? How about EGT's that I have read about so much on here? WOuld it throw a code? Thanks!! Oh, I do live in CALIF so wondering about emissions etc. .

The cat does NOT need to come off. Although, you'll hear that they do have the tendency to "get lost somehow" :-laf :-laf You may want to keep the cat on regardless, though, to avoid any hassles with emissions. (technically, it's not legal to remove the cat)

A straight pipe / aftermarket exhaust should have no effect on your warranty. It should not throw any codes either. I don't have a pyro yet, so I can't comment on EGT, but, from what I've heard, it seems that you'll stand to lower EGT some (like 50-75 deg, ish).

I'm pretty sure Geno's has what you're looking for. Or, if you're a tight-wad like me, spend $40 and get flex-pipe, I think it sounds a little better than a steel pipe anyway, but that's just my opinion. Take the muffler out, lift weight before you do this, that sucker's heavy, and put the flex-pipe in it's place.

I had a glasspack on mine for a few months. Best sound I've heard yet. It wasn't made for the 04. 5's so my tailpipe was about 4-5" too low. Took it off to avoid ruining the tailpipe. A die-hard ford guy even gave me a compliment on the sound. Had a complete system on my '01, absolutely loved the sound. The system that I had used a muffler/glasspack that looked identical to what DPPI sells. I talked to the company that makes them (35mins away) so I know that it was indeed packed with fiberglass.

It's an extremely deep sound with lots of noise on takeoff. 2nd genners sounded insane, but oh sooo sweeet. 3rd gens still sound great, just not as loud. I'm thinking about DPPI's 04. 5 replacement muffler 'cause I miss the sound. Not sure if it would sound the same, but it's gotta be close.
