Dumb Turbo Question

Has anyone tried to install a HX40/35/16 non waste gated hybrid turbo from a 97 CTD on an 03 ? I know the outlet to the CAC needs to be modified, no real problem there. The exh outlet will be smaller. I posted this on the 3rd gen site with no replies. Tell me all the reasons why not.



If you are wondering why would I even want to try this? It's because I have an brand new turbo that was built for another engine but never used . Shadrach

I doubt you'll have enough clearance with the stock manifold. You'll probably have to switch to the second gen style manifold to make it work. FWIW, that is not a very tough turbo. There were a lot of them blown up in 04 after the TST became available.
