Has anyone had experience with one of the pickup-dump-bed conversion kits? The electric-over-hydraulic kind that doesn't change the appearance of your truck and is good for @3,000lb loads?

I am always in need of a load of rock or dirt around here. I've been considering finding an old one or five ton dump truck. A plow and sander, such as an old county truck would have would be a plus.

However, with our greedy governor raising vehicle taxes (tax, tax, tax; that's all he has done since taking office) and insurance companies charging ever more even for vehicles that seldom get driven, I really don't want any more vehicles. My Dodge is supposed to be my workhorse.

Tucked away in my shed, I have the electric-over-hydraulic pump assembly and at least some of the hinge/scissors framework that a friend stripped off his old Chevy and gave to me many years ago.

I'm wondering what all I would need to do to get this to work on my Dodge. The one kit I have looked at on the internet requires the bumper to be attached to the box and to tip with it, but doesn't show or tell much detail. That would be a problem for me since my 13 inch drop bumper and my extra-heavy-duty homebrewed receiver hitch are integral to each other. I don't want to lose my receiver hitch or its strength.

So I'm looking for ideas, experience, and suggestions on why or why not this conversion would be a good or bad idea or worth the effort and expense and maybe how to proceed.

Thanks! Scott
