What differential oil does Dodge sell?

left my house to go to a wedding @ 9 am,(out of state)truck ran fine ,when i got up to n. h. my bros said"whats on your tial-gate?". turns out it was oil all over my trucks underside,i mean really soaked,on the spare tire, the bumper, and all the way up my tail-gate . we looked under it and saw the blow by tube "poofing" out oil and small amount of white smoke(at idle). my oil pres gauge read normal,no oil or check gauge light came on either. so we cheked the oil dip stick and it read that the oil was over filled on the stick by 2"-3" inches over the normal mark. ?i have 8,000 mi on a full-synthetic oil change,i check it but have not added to it. now i decided to drive it to the reception 15-20 mi away, slow highway speeds keeping a check on the gauges and then i noticed my diesel fuel was leaving very fast on my gauge. i figured out that i was getting 4. 4 mpg over 10-15 mi! i pulled of the highway ,filled the tank and had to stop at a dodge dealer to get a rental and leave my truck. any and all thoughts are welcome and thanks for your time-----LA

Yup.

The increase in oil volume has to come from somewhere. That somewhere is either coolant or fuel, the only other fluids in the block. Since your fuel gauge is telling you it's going somewhere fast, then you've narrowed it down to that, keeping the coolant out of the equation. The fuel comes from the injector sticking open, just like he said above.

Good luck.

The oil pressure guage is a glorfied idot light. It doesn't read true oil pressure. It;s hook up to a on-off pressure switch on the block and the computer gives a reading that the driver expects to see, ie: if it's cold you'll see higher pressure than when hot and increasing with RPM as well. It is not really a true analog guage like we are lead to believe.

thanks to all--by the way the six-gun diesel tuner has been removed for 5000 miles ago, with the knowledge of my local dealer. i did check my radiator fluid when it cooled down,it was brownish and full.

Hey,

Let us know how it turns out. Curious as to what the dealer will say, how much to fix, any warranty coverage, etc.

Thanks.

Thanks to a Power Puck on my 06, I had 4 of my injectors blown wide open at 35,000 miles. My oil pressure was OK, oil level was 9" above normal full!. I had it towed to dealer, replaced all 6 injectors..... all 6 fuel tubes... . and high pressure return valve. Oh yeah, the Power Puck is history!

If one was to have this problem with real gauges, would there be anything to watch for? I have mech oil pressure and oil temp. garges. Would I have any indication from the gauges of a problem before the 15w-40 turns to #

well i got my truck back, yes you all were right it was an injector #6 was replaced,no mention of fuel rails or any other injectors. a red flag was sent to diamler/chrysler about the injector,my dealer talked there way out of a visit from a adjuster. i was told no more injectors would be covered... . what ever thanks to all----LA

Glad it all worked out for you. I may be stating the obvious here, but it is imperative that you change that oil. Maybe the dealership did it for you. If not, you have to get all that fuel contaminated oil out. Once the oil is diluted by the fuel, it looses some of the lubricating and protecting properties.

I had the same exact thing one year ago this last October. We were on a trip from Anchorage to Yuma and all of a sudden all my fuel was gone. We pulled in to a stop in Utah on I-15, the whole underside of the truck and cargo trailer were covered in oil and fuel. The crankcase was filled to the top with fuel and overflowing out the breather tube. We were towed to a dealer that night Satrurday and spent the night in a motel. Monday morning I was right there and they were right on it. I was told an injector came apart in the head and it pumped all the fuel past some seals in the upper part of the injector. They replaced the injector and flushed the oil system and sent me on my way. Many miles later all seems well with the engine. It really scared the snott out of me as I thought I had cratered the engine. They told me the cummings was tough and not to worry.
