Has anyone used the Durabak product for applications to beds, rocker panels and/or frames and undercoating? Is it a good alternative to products such as Line-X and Rhino lining? I was quoted $99. 00 for a gallon which will do an eight foot bed.
Ease of application?
Durability?
Resistance to color fading?

I bought a "do-it-yourself" can of bedliner material at K-Mart. It wasn't the DuraBak name, I don't remember the brand name on the can. It was available in a gallon container (in a kit with some supplies) for $90 (or $99, can't remember) or in a pint for $~20. I bought a pint to play around with. The instructions say that the only chemical to use for cleanup and preparation is xylene. I bought some at a chemical supply house (found in yellow pages). I did a test of the product by coating the inside of a small toolbox that I carry in my truck. It came out okay, but it's not show-quality. If you are looking for something to be purely functional, the do-it-yourself products might be worth it. But since I enter my truck in shows, I didn't think my abilities would be good enough to coat the entire bed. I was too afraid I'd screw it up. I bet it would be a bear to remove it and start over! I still might use it to coat small items like the door sills, etc.
