Hi All,I test drove the chevy 2500 duramax this week and i got to take my hat off to this truck!!!:--) This truck is hooked up the right way. Not only does this truck move but the allison trans in this truck is awesome. I would have to spend another $5000. 00 on my truck to get the performance and reliability of a great transmission to be in the same league. Don't get me wrong i love my cummins, but i wish they would unleash the potential that this motor has and put a transmission in this truck that we could depend on. This is just my opinion. :D

I think the jury is still out on the reliability of the allison transmission. Your best bet for reliablility on a transmission, regardless of brand, is to go manual if you want to do some heavy duty towing.

No question about a Cummins being more reliable than a duramaxipad.

Spend the money

on your trans you will be very happy. lots of good stuff out there for your Dodge and you will still have the the CUMMINS.

The allison trans is a very good trans, but they also need a little help. a friend of mine has one in his race truck(peterbilt 379)the truck turns 11. 30 with a detroit 892 silver, needless to say a little work has been done to it!!

i think allison got ahead of themselves when they released the wt series transmissions which are a full electronic transmission. they still have some bugs in them that need to be worked out.

Just think you could have spent that $5000. 00 on a truck that looks like an Avalance... ... ..... Nice hood! That alone would keep me from owning a Chubby. Plus I spent the $5000. 00 on my truck and I can eat a new Chevy Corvette:D Come Get Some:D

OK, lets figure this out. My truck was $14,000 less than a new 2500 duramax (chevy wouldn't deal), add $5,000 for upgrades for my truck, yea, I'm still in the black! What a deal!
