The PHOENIX Bonneville salt flat race truck

Two stroke diesels

I guess it's no surprise to nayone that on the Tundra site, Tundras are the best and everything else is junk, and on the Duramax site Duramaxes are best and everything else is junk, and.....

I've come to the conclusion that brand loyalty is a self-inflicted wound that deprives one of enjoying most of what the world has to offer!

Sorry I couldn't make the Toy Run; I couldn't make the Broward Toy Run either! Maybe next year - I've missed two bike weeks in a row - we're planning on making the 2002 bike week though! I'm afraid age is taking its toll on my motorcycle ministry days!!!

It should be no surprise to anyone that the contributors to the other boards are ust as rabidly loyal to their brands and just as loudly proclaim all other brands to be junk. I'm convinced that brand-loyalty is a self-inflicted would that prevents people from enjoying the majority of what the world has to offer!

There is brand lolalty again. The alison is a great name... ... ..... but how many busses and moterhomes have that model alison. I love the alison name too but not the one in the duramax.

If ya want a soft ride, comfy seats and a quiet interior, and a frame that drags the ground, buy a caddy. If you want a truck that sits, works, and looks like a truck should, buy a ram. Whatever happened to the good ole days when trucks were for working and if you went for groceries you took the station wagon? As long as they keep making the parts, I'll keep my 95. Million mile club here we come. (All this coming from a former die hard bowtie man)

Won't do the Job

Just stand in front of a new chevy - any HD model - mark on your leg where the lowest part is - the airdam. Now go and mark the similar part on your Dodge 4x4. Compare the difference - it's huge! Combine that poor dimension with IFS, and you have the making of a disaster when the suspension is loaded. Where I run my truck, you'd be bottoming out the front end, and I'm not abusing my rig but it's in 4WD 95 out of 100 days. This time of year - it's 100/100! There are many differences in these vehicles, but IMO - GM has simply Feminized this truck way - way to much for me! I don't care if it had a Cummins in it - I couldn't use it - and believe me, this is the 1st Chrysler product I've had in 25 tears - so I'm not coming into this with any brand bias. However I do think that I've read that Pickups have the strongest brand loyalty of any vehicle segment!

Just seen this post

And I have to add my opinion on the mater. (this usually get's me in trouble):p My buddy Ryan bought a new DMax with a 6spd in it and he loves it. I can tell you they are fast not fast enough for my bombed 2500 but fast:D I don't think there is any way I could keep up with it if my truck was stock. It will most likely be a great truck for him because he hauls nothing or will never take it offraod. Me on the other hand would tear that little light duty truck to hell with the kind of hauling that I do and the trips in and out of feilds. In my opinion if you buy a truck you should use it like a truck not like a sports car at the local drag strip or a touring car to go on long trips. This is the reason why you have to pay $40,000 for a new DMax and $37,000 for a new CTD or PSD:mad: I just think if all the friendly FOO FOO would quit buying 3/4 and 1 ton trucks and buy cars, mini vans and sport uts that the prices wouldn't be so high on a truck that you buy to work with, and the auto makers would quit trying to make my truck ride like a car. But the world is not perfect so none of this will ever happen and pretty soon Ford and Dodge's trucks will look all nice a cute like the Ceby and we will all have IFS front suspension. (I do dred the day):(

Just one dumb young country boy's rant.

I saw this ad in the paper years ago, when I still owned Chevy Trucks.

For sale: 19XX Dodge Truck, $X,000. 00 Or will trade for 2 Ford Trucks,

4 Chevy Trucks, or 12 Datsun Trucks.

I didn't know what he meant then, but I do now!

The first time those Aluminum heads get too hot they are gonna warp! And those trucks are gonna get a reputation for Heartache! I bet you in about 4 years there will be a steady supply of used Allison transmissions coming to the junkyards from Chevys with fried Duramax's.

I was around a running d-max the other day for the first time and I started laughing , I almost had to feel it to see if it was running or was it the chevy caprice next to it:confused: , It did nothing for my testosterone level

I am with you 100%. When I wanted a sports car I bought a Porsche 911. When I wanted a Luxury car I bought a Lexus LS400. When I wanted a SUV I bought a Toyota Landcruiser. When I wanted a Tough truck I bought a Dodge CTD. People that buy the DMax and Fhords are looking for compromise and that is what they get. My Dodge truck is not a sports car, Luxury car or a SUV and I don't expect it to be. I also don't try and pound nails with a screw driver :D I use a hammer!!!

DarrellB - I have to agree with you the pickup market has come to make there trucks all nice and foo foo for the people who buy SUV's. They have all got away from building a truck.

Brand loyalty is great - its your money buy what is best for you. I have owned all of the big 3's pickups in the 2500/3500 categories. I have never owned a GM diesel for the simple reason GM has never made one. I have owned washing machines that had more power than any GM diesel. I did like my GM gas powered truck but it did have alot of squeaks and still does. My Fords were always in the shop not for the engine part but everything else - transmission, radiator. My Ford also had some of the worst paint jobs as I have ever seen - I've seen graffiti with more sheen and less orange peel than the new paint on my Fords. Plus Fords attitude had to be some of the worst when I had problems. My Dodge so far so good. I bought it because I felt is was the best for me and also past reliability. I also drove the Duramax with 6sp. manual quiet and smooth ride - yes. Reliability ??? not proven. I also wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the interior and the way it was laid out - And the missies felt the same way. I am by no means sorry I got the Dodge I love the way it drives, handles and of course the Cummins is GREAT. Time will tell hoping to get the trailer hooked up soon. All in all I feel like I have made the right decision - its the best truck for my purposes for me.

:(Sorry for the post earlier but this guy at the fuel pump pi$$ed me off and I took it out on that post. This Dumb a$$ in his DMax Cheby pulled up and started bassing my Dodge right off the bat. I'm just sick and tired of all the Cheby and Furd guys telling me how big of a peace of junk my truck is when they don't even use thier truck for what they're ment for. I bought my truck for its work ethick and its dependable drive train and body. My truck is not a rolling wreck with a $hity front axle(contrary to most Cheby and Furd owners believe) its a first class hard working well built truck and I wouldn't trad it for a 100 Furds or Chebys because evedently when you buy one of the brand X's you turn into a complete JackA$$.

I've never had anyone say that sh*t to me about my truck but I am 6' 4" and weigh 250 lbs and my main hobby is weight lifting :D :D If they did I might rip one of their doors off and stick it up their A$$ :D

That's What's Wrong

I'm only 5'8" and 180lbs, Now I know why they all treat me like I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER, but what they don't know is what's in the center console, the great equalizer. (45 semi auto Kimber with plent of shells for everybody):D

See that is why a person should treat everyone the way they would like to be treated. Since you never know??? I would never berate another guys truck, that is just not smart. I hope this never happens to you again, it is obvious that this guy was just jealous because you were driving a Dodge CTD and he was very insecure about his own truck. Darrell just one more thing, this guy that insulted your truck was stupid, because how big a guy is does not really matter. I own a Pit Bull, he is only 75 lbs. but I would not want to be a dog, no matter how big I was and have this dog mad at me :D

I just took the D-Max on a 3000 mile trip, and it performed better than I could have imagined! It NEVER downshifted from fifth lockup at 75 mph, no matter what the grade. I would buy one in a minute if I were not retired and broke. But I am, and you know what? My 94 Dodge (paid for) meets my needs just fine!:D

Did you tow anything? Haul anything? Or do you just like the "car mode"? Not much of a test just to pull it's own weight. I'm sure a Yugo would do just fine when empty as well.
