Saving Fuel Drafting a Freightliner????

"despite sharing its name with the older 6. 6L Duramax diesel that was developed in partnership with Isuzu, the new 4. 5L Duramax was developed completely in-house by GM"

Scary

I think they are going to have a few bug's:rolleyes: Seems like GM always lets the customers work out the bugs with their engines:-laf

What is that they say "When it comes to repair, expense is no concern"

This will be interesting to watch, wonder what their projections for engine life on this new baby are going to be:p

This is good news, because this should help speed up the development for the CTD in the Durango, Dakota and Ram 1/2ton. A rumor that I keep hearing about for the last to years.

I was thinking further on this and, looking at the big picture, the last time diesels began to get closer to main-stream popularity GM almost single handedly pulled the rug out with their convert-o-motor:mad:. Now, as we may be on the verge of a renaissance, I sure hope history doesn't repeat itself:{ Innovation is not the hallmark of Gimmick Motors:rolleyes:

I wonder if it will have piston slap like every Vortec engine GM ever produced, including my wifes 8. 1L.

My Trans Am has piston slap but the engine runs great, never had a problem with it. The only problems are with the cheap parts GM used on everything else. Their gas engines aren't going to match the Cummins in longevity but they are great for someone who doesn't need to go 200,000 miles every 5 years and get good mileage. The trans am just averaged over 28 mpg on the highway over the weekend
