Duramax heater.

Someone i know has a 2003 Duramax. I plugged in my truck last night and asked him if he has plugged his in yet.

His anwer was: he was told that it is not necessary to plug in the Duramax; as told to him by the dealer. The block heater turns on by itself; unknown at what temperature. Is that true?

Dealer has the glow plugs/grid heater (duramax has both) confused with the block heater.

my dealer told me the same thing no need to plug the max in due to new age technology ... . well they are full of it... . actually they didnt even know the truck had a plug! i said when i bought it it just has to i know it so when i went how and unraveled it i stopped back by to show they it did ... . they pulled to cord out on a nother one on the lot! what a bunch of morons... . i have found here when its in the low 20's ill plug mine in just for faster heat since i dont use the winter cover... im sure your buddys ******* has diffenatly got something confussed... .

I've gotten to the point I innocently start asking questions when I'm talking to the salesperson. If he starts spewing BS I know not to buy from him. I refuse to buy something from someone that is too ignorant to learn about what they're selling.

And it's getting hardr to find someone who knows about the stuff they're selling. And it's why I cant sell anything for a living; if I dont believe in it, how can I make someone else a believer?

If i remember correctly, i believe that the GM's plug in system is quite a bit more advanced than the Rams. I thought my brother-in-laws D-max (When plugged in) will have a warm(er) cab and the windshield will be clean...

Actually when I have mine plugged in my windshield is mostly clear of any frost. I just fire it up and drive away. I haven't ad to scrape the windshield yet when it was plugged in.

So at a certain temperature this block heater will turn on? So dose this mean you don't have to plug it in? What type of battery's are they new Chevy Durasmaks coming with? If this is the case I'm gonna try to buy this block heater and battery system and try to install it on my Dodge. That way there I wont have to carry an extension cord and plug my truck in any more.

Because according to what you said your friend said and was told by the dealer the block heater will come on automaticly, which means no more plug ins. Oo.

I think some one is selling or telling you friend a BIG LIN OF I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER.

Somebody don't know what there selling. Sounds like the sales man.

Next year, you won't even have to add fuel. It will create its own fuel just as it creates its own electricity for the grid heaters.



Just out of curiosity..... why both grid and glow plugs? Those things must be extremely hard to get fired on a cold morning to use both systems. I've had glow plugs in a diesel before. No thanks on that piece of crap.
