Duramax Injectors pretty scary

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Anyone got a link for getting a 2007 SUPERRIGS Calendar??

Ok Who Is This!?

Oh well,

Some of their stuff is viewable by non-members.

Guess that's a secret thread :-laf

In a nutshell, there was a previous thread that was closed because it got so big. Probably the longest thread on the site.

It is titled "Injector Failure Survey"

They started a new one to continue it. All I can say is it's not looking good. It's one of the main reasons I left GM. Not just for the Dmax injector issue but because GM swore they would not allow a diesel screwup with the introduction of the Dmax.

Granted some have had great success with their trucks but the rate if infection is unacceptable in my opinion.

I would venture to guess 25 to 30 percent and maybe higher Duramax trucks have had one or all injectors replaced, some multiple times under 120,000 miles which is the warranty for "some" models.

Ooo ooo ooo!

Scary Scary!

Well it does suck to lay out 40 grand betting on those odds.

How about a serious response. What do you think, blow it off and just say "ahh, no problem, warranty takes care of it"

I bought my daughter an ipod two years ago. $299. Then I paid $69 for the extended warranty. After the fourth replacement in those two years I finally ebayed the last replacement and bough another brand. No more ipods in this house. The warranty is first class... . but we no longer have an ipod in the house.

I hate having major warranty work done. Often they don't get it all right. Changing injectors in an LB7 ... even the newer designed LLY and LBZ's isn't typically an hour job. Many times I've seen in the survey they had to go back very shortly after the set was replaced for another set.

I agree Dodge can be a pain with getting warranty work done but GM isn't perfect. They are better but there a loads of stories of rejections because a truck didn't fall into the "window :-laf " of extended warranty years. Some had to take the letter in and show the dealership what they didn't know.

Point is GM did it again. Built, or should I say, sold another diesel that has a very high failure rate. 20-30% is a guess. That is high in itself and that could be higher.

And I don't give a crap what anybody says, when you have pride in something and it lets you down, it pisses you off. I see most of the guys I grew up with on the dieseplace have replaced their trucks with newer models, some regretting it. I'm certain many did it to get away from first year issues. Actually first year issues were mostly injector related. So they traded up and still have the same "black cloud" hanging over their heads. Almost every one of them has had injectors replaced once twice or three times.

Scary? For the proud owners, it sure is.

I have a very good friend that is a service writer for a GM store and he loves it when the trucks roll in off the slider because he knows it is injectors and he will be making $$. That is one of the reasons I got out of my 06 crew cab dually and bought this CTD. I had 2 dmax trucks and ZERO problems with my LB7 but the LBZ was a POS!

I have a fishing buddy who has a 02 GMC with a duramax. He had his first set of injectors replaced at 32k mi. (Warrantee was 2 years 24k mi. ) They hit him $3800. to fix it. Needless to say he was :--) . Then at 54k mi it died again and they had to replace 6 of the injectors, ( he told them go ahead and do the other 2 cause he didn't want a problem in a week or so) any way this time it cost him$4200. He now has 79k mi on his truck and is thinking of buying a GOOD Truck (Dodge). I told him from the get go that Cummins was better and now he is seeing the light. :-laf

I worked for GM for 28 years. I drive a DODGE, and drove one while I worked at the dealer as a Tech... . :-laf They :{ and :{ about that... :D

I would never own a GM Diesel... :{ Junk... Every truck that come`s in need injectors. I don`t care if it was covered or not, I would be mad as hell.

Frigging Pile O Shat. :--)
