Ooo ooo ooo!
Scary Scary!
Well it does suck to lay out 40 grand betting on those odds.
How about a serious response. What do you think, blow it off and just say "ahh, no problem, warranty takes care of it"
I bought my daughter an ipod two years ago. $299. Then I paid $69 for the extended warranty. After the fourth replacement in those two years I finally ebayed the last replacement and bough another brand. No more ipods in this house. The warranty is first class... . but we no longer have an ipod in the house.
I hate having major warranty work done. Often they don't get it all right. Changing injectors in an LB7 ... even the newer designed LLY and LBZ's isn't typically an hour job. Many times I've seen in the survey they had to go back very shortly after the set was replaced for another set.
I agree Dodge can be a pain with getting warranty work done but GM isn't perfect. They are better but there a loads of stories of rejections because a truck didn't fall into the "window :-laf " of extended warranty years. Some had to take the letter in and show the dealership what they didn't know.
Point is GM did it again. Built, or should I say, sold another diesel that has a very high failure rate. 20-30% is a guess. That is high in itself and that could be higher.
And I don't give a crap what anybody says, when you have pride in something and it lets you down, it pisses you off. I see most of the guys I grew up with on the dieseplace have replaced their trucks with newer models, some regretting it. I'm certain many did it to get away from first year issues. Actually first year issues were mostly injector related. So they traded up and still have the same "black cloud" hanging over their heads. Almost every one of them has had injectors replaced once twice or three times.
Scary? For the proud owners, it sure is.
