Just read this on the GM site - here's the upcoming dates:

May 4 - 5 RNR Auto Group Schuylkill Have, PA
May 11 - 19 PA Park Race Track Fair Bensalem, PA
May 27 Indianapolis 500 Indianapolis, IN

and a link to the info about it: http://www.gmpowertrain.com/powertour/index.htm

Now for the funny part:

"In 2000, Powertour took the USA by storm, covering over 41,000 miles of highway with the Duramax Diesel 6600 engine. Powertour had a great year last year, so we're rolling the tour out once again for 2001. We're loading up the original trailer and using the orginal Duramax Truck and engine from 2000!"

OOOOOOOH, a whopping 41,000 miles, AND they're even going to use the same truck this year! #ad
Man, that things so durable I just can't believe it #ad
, they've got a whole 41K on it and are going back on the road with it!!! BTW, we tried to get them to come to Muncie but they said no.

YEAH, I got some neat pictures of their last tour - here's one showing their tour leader's DM rig... The driver said it perfoms well - he could really kick a$$ with it, but emissions were pretty bad... #ad

At the half moon bay tractor pulls there was a duramax with 32 miles on it... guy pulled only 140 feet and it just died out. . while a stock dodge made the 180 feet ... what a loss that day for chevy

Hmmmm, the other side of that is, makes you wonder if they're not selling as hot as GM thought they would. I also have to wonder how many of the people who have bought the D-Max are completly ignorant of what they have. This is a typical exchange on a given day at the store:
Customer: "Hey, how about the new Chevy Diesel. I hear it's got 300hp and will eat up the Dodge yada yada yada... "
When they get all through, I look at them and say, "It has aluminum heads. " Period. That's it. It's like #ad

Most folks aren't even aware of that and you can bet the GM sales guy, when someone is looking at one doesn't say, ". . and the BEST part of this truck is the aluminum heads!"

Wife's truck:
95 2500 SLT Laramie 3. 54 automatic JVC cd out of factory infinity system, southwest grill gaurd (a favorite amongst the deer population), K&N chunked, AFC adjusted, "gutless" cat, Geno's dual EGT/boost gauge, TST #6 plate slid all the way forward, AFC housing slid all the way forward, silencer ring removed

My truck:
95 2500 SLT Laramie 4x4 automatic, Geno's dual EGT/Boost gauge, Dodge cat test pipe (I'm still testing hehe), Geno's muffler eliminator pipe, AFC star wheel adjusted for smoke show, TST #6 plate slid all the way forward, AFC Housing slid all the way forward... let the fun begin!

A wise old man once told me that "companies always advertise the OPPOSITE of the truth".
Since they named it DURAable MAXimum I'll bet it is gonna be a typical GM POS. I made the mistake of buying a GM product in 1983 and still hav'nt forgot was a POS it was. In case anyone has forgot, GM almost killed the light-duty Diesel market with the 360 gas conversion. Normal operation for GM is to spend the first three years of production working the flaws out of the design. Ask me how I know... and how much it cost me.

Dang, Gary, I just opened this up again and I'm still laughing. What a way to start the morning. Mines an 01 and I have 31K on it and I'm not on tour yet. Come on ya'll, let's get Steve's new rig and go on the road.

Texas Diesel.
I have the same feelings about GM as you do. I will never forget my 95 Z71 that had the 6. 5 Diesel. 75K miles, and 40 line item repairs. My Ram has 75K on it now, and it has seen the shop only twice. I will never buy another GM product, and my wife isnt getting one either. She wanted to get a Yukon, but I couldnt get over how GM treated me with the POS truck that I owned. We bought a Durango, and it has been great!

I say let GM crank out the trash that they are so well known for building. They deserve every bit of bad press that they get. Have you been over to the dieselpage forum lately? I loved reading the thread where the truck beds are so fragile that putting on a headache rack behind the cab window will bend the lip, or the one where the 4 wheeler bumped the back of the bed and bowed it. GM could have done things right by getting the John Deer Diesel, and not using tin foil for a truck bed, but they decided to go the cheap route and once again, GM fails to meet the low standards that they set.

Conleyjo, know the feeling. Mr Goodwrench had my vehicle more than I did the first year. Shall I get started discussing the "engineering" aspect? Better not. Boy, I wish my RAM had a T. L. A. instead of a vacuum motor for front axle engagement. NOT! When I run through a cold stream I dont go back to 2WD. My only fear is that DC
will hire some of those retarded GM "engineers". Yes I did read about the tin foil beds.

Alan - you'll love this one. I test drove a Dmax a couple months ago ( https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum5/HTML/001010.html ). I told him I would be towing a large trailer with it, he asked if I had it at home and we'd go tow it - at the time I didn't have the trailer yet. Week before last just before heading out on my trip I stopped in at the dealership with the trailer in tow, went inside and found the salesman. I told him I had my trailer with me so we could try it out, he said sure, grabbed the keys and headed for the door. When we got outside and he saw the rig he just stopped dead in his tracks and said "I don't think so!" #ad
ROTFLMAO I thought it was hilarious!

Well FWIW, every Dmax Dually I've seen has been without any hitches and guys with ties drivin' em. Concrete cowboy trucks. Tow???Haul??? What the heck is so Heavy duty about them? Fiberglass fenders, light box construction and the soft ride of IFS.
