Duramax question

Have a friend that has a 02 Duramax and wants to put a 4" exhaust and some sort of intake mods on. What can he expect? Is the software able to add more fuel to take advantage of the mods or no? I'm only familiar with the basics of the truck, so any help would be appreciated.

edge juice will diffenatly work better with it opened up tell him afe i think makes the best dmax system ... . with just the filter and a flow trough muffler( or no muf) he should experct considerable mileage gains i saw like 40 m,iles better to a tank when i did it

Thanks for the reply. I assume (I know, I know) that the milage gains means that he should see some performance gains as a trade off? I mean, milage if he keeps his foot out of it, performance gains if he hoofs it, yes? Thanks.

yeah alittle diffeerence with a box... . ifs hard to fell 15-20 hp seat of the pants meter ... . but the open air will help alot if he goes with a chip

I have seen a stock Duramax try to suck a clean air filter in so if you do go with a larger exhaust do improve the intake. It was a Union Pacific crew cab with a work style rear that quite often hauled 4 people and an 8000 lb trailer. It was also fitted with a set of track wheels so it was no light weight by itself. BTW the UP crew loved it.
