Duramax Safe Mode?

I was sitting in a parking lot at were I work when along came a finatic for cummins (like myself)... we talked about modifications on his truck and what I would like to do to mine etc... But the real question that popped up was... he said that a duramax can only be modified to a total of 575 lbs torque before the transmission sends a overload to the computer sending the truck into "safe mode". He explained the whole modification setup that he did on a truck at his shop and the chevy was in the dealership the next day for lack of power... "safe mode"?? Anyone else heard anything about this?

There has got to be a way around this, just like anyother computer. I know DD has a Durasomethingorother down there and Just knowing how he like power, You can bet for sure that it is way over those numbers!!
