Duramax Smokin on Long Hills

Had a Dmax blow by me on I-75 at Ocala. Pulling the next long hill (if you've driven this stretch you know what I mean) the Dmax started to put out darke smoke that got darker and thicker until she looked like an old non turbo diesel. At the top of the hill the smoke stopped and he was on his merry way. Is somebody building bombing kits that cause the smoke or is it a lack of boost. That's the first one I've seen motoring down the interstate. He was not pulling a load but had a service body on the truck.

Wow your the first person to see one make it to the top of a hill!
Did you notice any small aluminum chips streaming from the exhaust pipe?

No Aluminum, just smoke. Seems like they wouldn't pass emissions. It probably wasn't struggling to get up that hill, but it sure looked like it was. Maybe that's why he blew by so fast... ... he was a gettin' his speed up to tackle those big Florida mountains.

Yeah, Okie. I was in the Ram. Sorry about your accident. Glad you are OK. There's no doubt that top end he could take me. I just thought that a long steady pull like you have in that area would be a piece of cake for a 300 hoss engine. Didn't seem to bother my baby any. He might have wanted to see what he looked like going fast. I have my new mirrors on and he thought he could get a glimpse of himself in those.

yesterday on my way home i caught up to a durapuke dually with a utility box and racks on the freeway, i got along side and stuck my PEN!s extension exhaust pipe in his window and shot ahead of him... then slowed back down, but he just backed off... GRRR, why don't they wanna play!>??

Saturday morning the wife and I saw a duramax 1 ton on the highway dragging an 18 ft enclosed trailer. It was kinda funny cause I kept trying to get her to chase after him. . but she wouldn't (typical woman... she only likes racing f**ds

I found that watching this truck pull was very amusing, cause everytime he would start climbing up a hill his truck would get this really low pitch sound... it actually sounded like his truck was going to self destruct... you could tell that he was strugglin. But yet when he was on flat ground, he sure had no problem cruisin at 75 - 80 mph.

Just thought that I would share.

I finally found one of them things to mess with, unfortunatly I was helping my buddy pick up some new French doors and they were hanging way out of my bed, and somewhat fragile. Still looking for another one, been meaning to go test drive one too, just for S&G.

I have happened upon about 5 different
occasions to mess with a Duramax. Not one
has resulted in a true win or loss for
either truck. The first time I had a guy
messing with me at 60mph or so for about
5 miles. We kept playing the speed-up, slow
down game with each other while side by side.
Ran into slower traffic ahead, and he got
stopped at a traffic light! #ad
I was in
one lane over and could not stop because of
the flow of the traffic.
And of course all the other times since that
one, it was heavy traffic again on the
interstate. They usually don't want to play
though. #ad

I have had a couple of good runs with other
Cummins powered Rams, though. One was with
another 3500 QC, but his was 2wd. We were
dead even to about 70mph. Neither one of us
got ahead or behind my much more than 4 ft
during shifts.
The best one was against a hillbilly in a
straight piped 3500 QC on a deserted country
road. He wanted to play real bad
and kept messing with me. Of couse he found
out that my Power Edge equipped 3500 QC was
no match for him! #ad
Twice I beat him by
over 5 truck lengths by 70 MPH. LOL! #ad

I have had a couple of PSD's mess with me
on the interstate but again cannot play
because of the heavy traffic.

I have only been able to play with 2, one was on the freeway from a dead stop at the light to get on I left him well behinf (no boxes on but injectors so I know not fair) I left him very far back but then got to about 80 and came back to reality speed but he made sure to fly by as the cop had the gumball machine ready for him... . The other one was of less fun.
