Heres the thing I like the solid axle on the Dodges but in stock form they are not that quick. I've put lots of miles on a 01 and 06 Duramax. Both trucks are very quick the 06 is a fun truck to drive. How far do you have to go on a build up to get that performance with the 2nd gen cummins? At what point do you need to build the transmission, auto vs man?

You will need to do transmission stuff for sure if you go over 100 hp. If you want it to last as long or loner than stock I might do it just for peace of mind. You could just put on a comp box and it would be much faster than any stock truck ever will.

Andy,

My guess is you put a Smarty on SW#9 and you will beat any stock truck and if driven hard will soon tear up the transmission as well.

Godspeed,
Trent

My brother had a 02 Duramax stock form. I smoked him with my 99 Dodge with Edge comp [only mod]. He then added a Juice w/attitude to the Dmax... . I smoked him after adding 90hp injectors. My other brother bought a 04. 5 Cummins added crazy larry & smoked us both. I then got 150hp injectors & SS62..... big brother [me] is back on top of the game. It is never ending competition between us 3 brothers. LOL
