Would you convert Dodge to a Ford

I was running errands today and was talking to some chevy guys.

They said they know of someone who has a duramax with 325,000 miles on it. It has been apart several times just to measure things and it is wearing real nice, still in spec.

I thought it was a little deep but didn't burst there bubble!

Why would anyone who didn't need to, take a motor apart.

No problems with the motor or trans they say.

I left it alone and left the site.

Believe what you want, but remember, if it smells like **it, looks like **it, and sounds like **it, then it's more then likely **it.

Wait a minute, how long have those been out, I'm thinking 2 years. 325000 divided by 24 = 13541 miles per month. :--)

Yea

I was over at the cheby site the other day and saw a post with something like that. They all were saying it was a double driver over the road hot shot truck! I know rigs that don't get that kind of miles. Sorry, don't buy that one... ... ... ... ... .

A lot of miles!! I doubt the story is real just wanted to let you guys know about it.

And to take it apart to check it. LMAO

I'll be right back , I want to take this computer apart and see it it is ok.

Oh, Oh, I just heard my boy say " no dad, put it down and slowly back away!"

I just thought of this. Do you think someone at a dealer set the mileage high so they can brag???

Like a cROCK !!!!!

I'm sure the mileage is true, one of GM's "Spin Control Doctors" is always dishing up info/propaganda about how the Dmax is holding up and refuting any such problems that it might occur..... but why would you tear it apart several times to check to see how it is wearing? I doubt it.

I thought the guy had rebuilt the transmission at least once and the rear end twice (ah, American Axles, I wish we were not getting those)? I would like to see the repair bill for the Alli. I would not want to own a D/A combo out of warranty. It seems most owners that I have come across, who drive them, lease their D/A's anyway.

It still has a way to go to make a million + miles like some of the Cummins being used for the same thing. I doubt that most D/A's will make it to as far as this one will go?

Now the Dmax 7800 might be another story. At least that is an I-6 diesel with a longer stroke then bore and even has cast iron heads, I think

;)

black smoke EVERYWHERE!

Wife and I went to Nebraska this weekend to get a trailer load of fence (1206 miles round trip) in our poor old bombed up Dodge:D . Yesterday on I-70 east of KC a maroon chucky truck passed us ( we were running 80 and I guess he was running around 83 as he stayed in front of us al ong time). The funny thing was he was running along looking perfectly normal ( no trailer or load) and then the black smoke would start pouring out the back till you couldn't see him or the vehicles beside him. In a little bit it would quit smoking and after a few miles it would do it some more. this went on for about 30 miles till we finally lost him. I don't know what that truck was doing but he didn't gain any speed like he floored it; just kept running the same pace. I forgot we had the digital camera till we couldn't find him any more or I would have gotten a picture. My wife said Oh my God he's caught on fire or something the first time. Then she said it looked like a pile of tires burning. :--) As for the old dodge, Man it was fun to drive after bombing it. Fuel milage sucked because I put my foot in it on every hill just to watch the speedo climb:D

duromuck

Wife was just reading the post about 520 miles per day and said they are going to have to double that for the days that they have it torn apart admiring it! Now do I have a smart Honey or what? Thanks for the Cd Player Dieselnv4!

Ok this is a little off subject but

I have a freind, Ryan, he has a taken his Polaris 4wheeler a part just to see how the 4x4 switch works. :rolleyes: I asked him how he thought it work? It works like any other switch you push it a it's on you push it again and it's off. :eek: Guess what though, he drives a Dmax to. :{
