Somehow the truck records how you use your vehicle by keeping tab's on operating temperatures, rpm's, duration of said rpm's, and so on. However, I am not sure if the "dutycyle" is the estimated life of the engine or something else.

I do know that in regards to the C44 recall if the dutycycle of the engine exceeds a certain percentage the dealer is required to replace the the transmission cooler/heat exchanger at the same time as the cooler line.

i sure hope so

if duty cycle is estimated life then let's see

15k at time of recall

multiply by approx 50

750k at the rate we're going nowOo.

you know what they say

if it sounds too good to be true ...

but i'll tell the wife that this will be her last vehicle EVER:D

Duty cycle is merely a ratio of “something happening in a period of time” over one time period.

Radar and sonar techs often use duty cycle (du) when discussing their systems transmitting characteristics, and in an automotive realm, it's usually talking about the ratio of time a fuel injector is fueling (squirting) over the total time of one fuel injection cycle.

I don’t remember what the C44 is, nor know what context that receipts’ duty cycle is referring to, but DC may have a metric (a measure of performance) they term duty cycle to track equipment or vehicle malfunctions/defects/returns, etc…. .

For injectors, a duty cycle of 1, or 100%, means that the injector is max'd out and is providing its fully rated fuel delivery capability. It never stops fueling and is at its upper limit of making horsepower.

If in the context of a vehicles' warranty work, a duty cycle of 1 could imply that it’s a hanger queen and never leaves the shop - and a lower number is desired.

The duty cycle is recorded in the ECM. It is % of load and is broken down into % of time. It is listed in 10 % brackets for time,ie 0-10,11-20 etc. It is used in the recall to decide if the truck has been used hard enough to warrant needing a cooler replacement. There are also many;) ;) other things being recorded.

With all these great stats they're recording, do you think it increases the odds of installing a power box (TST CR?) and being denied warranty work in spite of no codes being thrown?
