I am interested in putting a dvd player in my truck has anyone done this and if so what brand and do they make a custom overhead console.

I put a dvd in, but mine is in the dash. Can't watch it while driving, so I use it for the display on my Sirius sat and watch it when I'm parked waiting for my wife to finish shopping somewhere. Most of the overhead consoles I have seen are a "one size fits all" type. Just find one in the right size and color. I have also seen aftermarket headrests with monitors built in that are a direct replacement (i. e. vehicle specific). I think Crutchfield had those.

moparts parts accessories sels direct fit dvd players fit real nice and match well,i put one in a customers truck at work looked great

I have a 10. 2 inch audiovoxx overhead DVD player. The whole setup came with two wireless head phones for the passengers, and a game boy! I think the wireless head phones are very important, if you don't want to hear Elmo sing over and over and over again! The Audiovoxx mount came with a universal trim ring that matched the interior very nicely. One thing that I was told by the dealer who installed my DVD player is that if the overhead is not installed correctly you can have quite a bit of wobble in the screen while traveling down the road. I can say that mine seems to be working very well, however I would not go much bigger for fear of the screen movement while traveling down the road. I can say that my daughter gives it a thumbs up! I forgot to add the cost of my overhead system. I paid $480. 00 for the system and $60. 00 to have it installed. The install guy did a great job by using the same color of head liner as trim around the DVD player to match everything up. It looks as if it came from the factory this way!

I went the cheap way (sometimes you just gotta!). We bought a package at Wally World that has a DVD player & two headrest mounted monitors (the strap on). The player goes in the console. I have a PIE auxilary adapter to play the sound through my factory stereo. The whole thing (including the PIE adapter) was under $400 and I can easily remove it from the truck. I can also use this system in the trailer or in the house if need be.

Not necessarily what you're looking for, but an option for some.
