2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission dynamat under headliner

Can I put dynamat type material on the roof under the headliner or will it get to hot up there and melt or something. My truck is white so it might not be so bad.

Yes, you can put it up there without worries about heat and melting. FYI: Several members have put it up there and reported that it didn't do a whole lot for noise reduction. Once you get above the glassline most of the noise is coming from the windows.

I have had dynamat installed above my headliner for almost two years and there has been no negative side affects.



As far as is being effective, I definitely noticed an improvement especially with road/wind noise. The roof is just sheet metal, with very little attached to it, much like the back of the cab, adding mass to it will certainly help things out.

Waste of space...!!

Don't bother with the headliner... . concentrate on the floor rear cab walls and doors/panels... . you will not be disappointed! I presume you're upgrading the sound system, check out the truck details in my profile below... .

I bought 3 three boxes of Dynamat Extreme and installed it one layer over the entire cab floor, back panel inside of doors and quad doors. I put layers on back panel then i put another layer of carpet pad with the foil on one side and it made a huge difference.

Go to www.b-quiet.com get brown bread its about 1/2 the cost of dynamat and better are reducing sound. Of course you can ignore this and pay through the you know what for the dynamat! I have the brown bread in my truck floor doors roof under hood everywhere back wall all over. The stuff works really well cuts down about 40 - 50 % of all noise.
