Better than factory trailer hitch?

I've got over 10,000 miles on my Dynatrac pro steers ball joints and have yet to be able to get them to take a drop of grease. I have tried several times since they were new and they will not take it. Are they just that tight until they get broke in? Anyone else had this trouble?

I just put a set of dyna traks in an 05 3500 4x4. They are very tight and require constant "driving" to go down the road. I am assuming they will loosen up a tad with a few more miles.

i greased mine when i intalled them, while weight was still off of them and they took grease. i spoke direct to dynatrac who said they don't even need grease because of the materials in the joint. they only put grease fittings on for customer satisfaction. i don't know how i feel about that...

The people at Carli had said the same thing. I've found if you take the weight off the joints you can squeek some grease in. After having the Moog units bind and fail in half the miles that the stock ones lasted I'm really happy with the Carli/Dynatraxx combo I've got now, truck never felt so good on the road.

Mine were the same way. I was almost disappointed at first. Seemed hard to drive in a straight line. Took a couple thousand miles to come out of it. Drives like a dream now. Tried to grease them again tonight with weight off the front. Still couldn't get any in on the uppers. The lowers took grease ok with some effort. You have to use one of those needles for the lowers, and there is just enough room to get it in there if you have the wheel turned just right.

Thanks guys! I know these joints are expensive compared to the $30 greasable joints at NAPA, but it's the work to get to them to replace that I want to eliminate. I use my truck hard and off road every day of it's life. And with big tires. Sounds like the answer to me.

Interesting, I got treated like crap at KLM for a very simple web order. How dare I ask questions about my order of two plus weeks silence yet take my money asap and claim the item is in stock. Will never do business with them again.

i would highly recommend getting the dynatrac install kit with the bj's. i had the otc press and had to get creative as the cups and spacers do not fit over the dynatracs well without mushing them up. otherwise they go in nice and tighten front end up well. i did new spicer knuckle joints and a dynatrac free spin hub kit while it was apart. . don't want to open it up for a while.

My install went well, except for the windy cold weather and my truck only fitting halfway into the garage! Usually the hardest part working on trucks around here is getting them apart due to rust in everything. We had just put new wheel bearings and u-joints in one year ago, so I made sure everything was anti-seized well, so it came apart pretty good.

The biggest problem everyone seems to have is finding a tool big enough to handle the ball joints on our trucks. Autozone and Advance have them that you can buy and bring back when you're finished, but the one from Autozone was too small, and Advance's was marginal. I was able to do the job with it, but it could have been bigger with adaptors better suited for the job.

One word of caution: after you get them in, be very careful when you grease the top joints as you can easily push the seals out. Nothing in the instructions says anything about it, and apparently the seals are only held in with friction. I popped mine part way out, so I took the grease fittings out to relieve the pressure and pushed the seals back up with two screwdrivers. I hope they stay. One might consider using a center punch to expand the joints below the seals so they have something to hold them in.

Good luck.
Blake
