2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Dynatrac Installed & PSC Hydro Assist Kit Showed Up Today

I finally bit the bullet and ditched the dangerous factory sealed hubs. If the price of Diesel was still around $5 the kit would have paid for it's self in around 60K but now it would take closer to 170K. But at least I don't have to worry about being stranded again or out over a grand for towing and repairs.



My AGR power steering pump has been sucking air and making the steering feel mushy for a year. AGR sets you up for failure by selling their pumps without a drive gear installed. PSC told me the drive gears only cost them about $4 so why in the world does AGR not include the drive gear. If you ask AGR as I did after seeing several shops ruin pumps they will tell you you can have them install a drive gear for $80.



AGR's Super Pumps also make the steering fluid get as hot as 180 degrees which affects the steering feel. PSC is up front and tells you not to run their performance pump without a cooler but AGR directions say nothing about the need for a cooler.



I'm hoping to get my PSC hydro assist kit (showed up in the mail today!) installed in the next two weeks. I think my mods pushing past $30K so I'm hoping this kit will make me once again enjoy steering my truck. I was pondering selling a while back but after dumping around another $4K in my truck for these latest mods I'm hoping to run my current mileage of 178K closer to 300K. I can't afford to start over with a stock truck any time soon!

hook up to a trailer and back it around in the yard for about an hour in your new 2wd low reverse and the dynatrac will make you smile from ear to ear

I am also considering, (if my next pump failures or I get aggrivatedl with steering response) going to the PSC hydro assit. How much was it and let us know how steering feels afterward.



I don't feel any steering gear is adequate for our trucks.

PSC used my core and it was around $900. I removed my OEM fuel filter assembly today and mounted the remote power steering reservoir in the same spot. With a little grinding on the supplied bracket it fit perfectly in that spot. The aluminum reservoir and billet looking cap has a very trick look to it. I'm going to let a shop do the rest of the install in the next two weeks. I'll do another post as soon as I get some much anticipated drive time.

Make sure you get the dual lipped Cummins gasket for the vacuum pump when you swap out the PS pump out.

My new style Con ofe clutch is much more jumpy then the old style that failed. I look forward to using 2wd low to back up my 21' triple axle trailer. This trailer has 4' steel sides and weights 5900 lbs empty. Throw in four pallets of mulch and it jumps to 18-19K.

I had the PSC box in for a short period and blew out the seal for the sector shaft. I put a NAPA box on while PSC sent me another box. I haven't put the PSC back on yet. While I had the first one on it was great. I could steer with one finger. I also have the hydraulic ram assist... But I have to do some welding to get it done. That is kind of on the back burner for now.

DPrew... Did you install the dynatrac yourself or did you pay a shop?

Anyone know how much a shop wants?

Four Wheel Parts did it for $420. The quote they had given me in the past was $600 I think. I had put this off for a while but figured it wasn't going to get any cheaper. I think the Kit was about $1860 with the promotions they had going on. Get on Four Wheel Parts email list and watch for specials.
