Howdy all,
In the Local/Regional Events forum, you can see the results from
the NorCal dyno event on Saturday. I wanted to post a bit more
than just my numbers, as I thought some of you would be
interested in my observations and this information.
By the way, I took Top Horsepower award
among 25 total trucks.
This was at sea level, on a Dynojet dyno. There were 25 trucks
total that dynod, including a 2003 Dodge, 2003 Ford 6L
PowerStroke and 2003 Durapuke. Several people were
speculating that the dyno numbers for torque were very low, at
least 200+ ft/lbs too low. Is that true... ??? Who knows...
You can see my BOMBs in my sig, basically for power I have
DD3's, drag Comp, and unmodified HX40. Oh, and a K&N filter.
We each got two runs on the dyno. The dyno operator drove all
the trucks, the owners didn't, so hopefully that made everyone's
numbers a bit more comparable, eliminating any differences that
could have been introduced by different drivers.
On my first run, I had the Comp turned totally off, then on 5x5 for
the second run. I wanted to see exactly how much a Comp does
produce on an ETH motor.
Comp off: 344 HP / 684 TQ
Comp on 5x5: 439 HP / 826 TQ
So, apparently a "hot" Comp box produces ~95 HP and 140 #'s
of torque on an ETH. If I remember correctly, the hot COmp is
supposed to add 130 HP, and I think 300 #'s of torque. So, due
to the known "problems" with getting maximum possible
performance from an ETH, I'd say my numbers do seem to be
appropriate.
Later in the day, another Cummins truck (SpunkysRam) ran with a
regular Comp box, and then borrowed mine to see what the
difference would be between a regular and a hot Comp. His truck
is a 2002 auto trans, but is a 4x4 and I believe he has 3. 54 rear
end gears like my truck does. I believe he also has DD2s and the
stock HY35 turbo. Don't recall if he still has the stock auto transmission
though. One set of his numbers is 368 / 765, and I think these
may have been his numbers using my Drag Comp.
The Drag Comp is, I think, rated at 30 HP more than the regular
Comp. Spunky and I were quite surprised to see something like a
90 HP difference on his truck between his Comp and
mine...
I don't remember what the torque numbers
were.
So... for anyone considering a Comp box, I hope my results are
valuable data for you. Feel free to post or email me directly with
any questions.
I'll post a couple pictures as soon as I get them off my camera.
