I have talked to a Dyno Shop in the area and they told me that they cant dyno an automatic diesel cause they have problems keeping it in gear and lockup... Is this guy just blowing me off or is there some special trick to do this? The dyno place is called Backstreet Performance.

Does anyone know of another Dyno in the Cleveland Ohio area?

He did not seem to be in a good mood when i stoped in so he may have been just blowing me off... Maybe he didn't want his shop filled with Black smoke... ...

As soon as i find somewhere else then i am there. Just hoping that someone chimes in with Dyno close to where i am at, that is versed in the diesel Client...

I was at a Dyno event recently and some of the auto cars and trucks would goof up the computer on dyno if they would not stay in drive after WOT. The owner of the dyno had to run the car or truck himself, but he COULD make it work! It was an inertia dyno.

Auto trucks need a lock up switch so you can lock the TC and go to WOT with out gearing down.

Give me a call if you need help with this Olee

I thought that Automatic trucks just needed to take their transmission relay out & run a jumper wire across the 2 prongs which would lock the torque converter. That is the way that guys can make a TC lock up switch too... . then just hook a on/off switch on powertrain control module plug circuit B11.

Yes you need a jumper thats so you can lock it any time or speed the on/off does the actual locking when you ground the TC solenoid.

Oh... I thought that when the jumper was installed you had lockup, but when you hit the switch it was unlocked. Sorry... . Bassackwards.

Funny, I don't have a mystery switch and had no problems at Fall Brawl, didn't use a jummper or pull any relays? Guy just got it u[ to speed in OD and gradualy increased to about 65 or so, hit the dyno button and floored it. No problem??? See sig for dyno numbers/

Well he just must not have known what to do with a Diesel auto cause i told him that i could hook up a Mystery switch to lock the converter. I have used the switch before to diagnose trans issues. Oh well, just have to give someone else my cash... ... Thanks for the input. I'll keep looking for another Dyno in this area.
Chris

You just have to find that sweet spot to start the dyno run, where it won't downshift or come out of lockup. For most Dodges, it seems to be around 1900rpm in OD with the converter locked. Roll down on the throttle fairly quick and it will stay in OD with the converter locked.
