Good news and bad news. The flash didn’t help it at all. The good news…

I had TST send me a used box with the twins program on it to try. Hooked up this box and the surge is gone. RPMs are as smooth as silk. The problem is, this box doesn’t feel very strong. 5/5 is suppose to be about max power with this program, but 5/5 feels weaker and less EGTs than 7/7 on the soft program. Don’t know what is going on there. 6/6 on the twins version doesn’t feel as strong, but EGTs are a little hotter than 7/7 on the soft program. Maybe it is just me.

Took the twins box off and put the soft box back on and RPM surge is back.

Don't quite know what to make of it, but still tinkering with it.

Funny, I had a talk one day with mark about wastegates and the way the TST fuels (based upon boost up to 35 psi)... Think about when the TST overpowers the wastegate, I can push like 10 psi past the factory wastgate... Well even the SLIGHTest lift of throttle would make the TST defuel (due to not enough fuel to pin the wastegate open) -- BUT when I set my wastegate at 30lbs, My surge was lessened and I would have to take the levels up higher before the surge came back

WELLLL... . With the twins program, fuel is all in by 12 psi --- SO, when the TST sees you lost boost down to 25, from 30. . IT does not care and still fuels 100% --But with the single program, it would see the loss, and then the TST WOULD defuel because now it is seeing less boost

Any thoughts?

Well, it does make sense. I'm just not sure that fits the scenario of when it happens to me. My truck will do it on a leisurely acceleration with no more boost than 15 lbs. It is more RPM specific than boost specific.

If it is that sensitive, with as many people as there are using it, you would think this would be more widespread. I mean, you with the stock turbo, Steve with the KillerB, and myself with twins……we don't exactly have a lot in common as far as wastegate setups go.

on the street I only see power drop at high rpm, 2700 and up. other than that power is strong and the boost is constant. my wastegate is open at 21~22 psi and the boost never drops till high rpm, but on the dyno this is not the case. I see no surging, except when the truck is still very cold and held at one speed, and then it is very minimal.

the dyno could hold the truck at any speed and the truck would build boost then when the dyno would let the truck accelerate the boost would drop. is that the dyno? this does not happen on the street.

I dont care if my truck is the dyno king, I built the twins so I could tow and even on the dyno after numberous runs the egt's could only pushed into the low 1400's and that was only once and they didn't stay. (box on 9/9)

but after looking at some of the other dyno sheets the truck should not defuel at 2700. if it not the apps what is it, why will it not make power to governed speed?

can anyone get a wire diagram for the pcm, not just the external wire but the internal + programing?? I would like to see what it is capable of controlling.
